Crafty Gals Corner - Challenge #91 - Anything Goes

It's time for another challenge with us at the
This week we are taking a walk on the wild side with

Today I have used an image from the delightful
Hat Shoppe set of digital stamps by Rick St. Dennis.
The second I saw these hats I was reminded of the old fashioned photos that had a touch of colour added by hand, so I decided to make a vintage cameo design.

I printed off two images onto A5 X-Press It Blending Card using a laser printer, the images are just under 4" tall.  I used Copic markers in the earth tones (E50's) to create my sepia shades.  This project was a great learning time for me, as I found out what it is like to have a marker run out ... of course it had to happen mid-project.  Luckily my husband took me on safari to source my first refill and soon all was well in my colouring world.  It was also my first time colouring an entire background, so I think I will have to do my homework and learn about airbrushing with Copic markers.

I also experienced some "greyness" around the image lines that I think is toner bleed.  I'm going to do my homework to investigate this.  My first thought was maybe the thicker X-Press It Blending Card is too thick and the toner is not getting heated enough in the printer, so I might try zapping my images with my heat gun before I attempt to colour them next time.
Have you experienced this before?
Do you have any handy hints on how to handle it?

What makes you different . . .

makes you PERFECT

... such a sweet sentiment from the Waffle Flower "Hibiscus" stamp set.

It's funny how cards evolve.

When I first saw this photo inspiration and colour combo fromWaffle Flower, I immediately thought of a pastel rainbow with the "what makes you different makes you perfect" sentiment from the Hibiscus stamp set.
Then I thought, why not an hibiscus garland?
Well I stamped, fussy cut and coloured a bundle of little hibiscus flowers and made them into a garland with twine that had a strand of gold running through it.  It looked like a pretty pastel lei but ever so stark against the white background of my card base, so I stepped outside the colour palette and placed it against a sheet of ombre green paper and it look much better, especially with the toucan on the branch in the darkest section.  What do you think?

Favourite Song or Film & WHY
The Muppets are favourites with our nieces and nephews and a song that strikes a chord is Kermit singing "It's not easy being green".  While it sounds sad while he is singing it, feeling invisible and insignificant, by the end he realises that being green is special and beautiful too.  ... of course it helps that I love frogs and confess to having a collection of "green" frog ornaments :)

Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree, you are so perfect to me

STOP, you are not experiencing triple vision!

You have already seen this digital stamp twice before but in case you missed it, it's The Perfect Christmas Tree digital stamp from QKR Stampede and the "Holiday Cheer" sentiment from the Christmas Words Dies from Paper Smooches.

This time I have matted the image panel.
Because my nesting oval dies have quite a large gap between sizes, I traced the inner edge of the die and fussy cut the image panel and layered it over the die cut mat.

NOW it's time to decide on which of my Perfect Christmas Tree cards are going to be perfect for half of our Christmas mailing list this year.
What do you think, 1st, 2nd or 3rd version?

You can read about the original version of my card HERE and the 2nd version HERE
