More flamingos . . . with a pair of precious eggs

Here is the 2nd card I made for our latest challenge at the Southern Girls.

This fortnight Team Lou have created projects to inspire you for the new challenge

~~~*~~~*~~~
Today I have used the Winter Flamingos digital stamp by Sasayaki Glitterone of our generous sponsors this fortnight, to make a pair of A5 top folding Christmas cards.
Two of our nieces each have a precious daughter and I thought that this trio of flamingos would make a super cute Christmas card for their families of three.  We recently found out that one of the nieces is expecting twins in the New Year, so I added two little eggs, with the little girl looking down at the babies coming soon.
This post is to focus on the card with the
bright diagonal stripes and pair of sparkling eggs.
I started by planning my card on my Silhouette Cameo design mat, sizing the oval and image to fit on an A5 top folding card base.  Then I sized some leaves to embellish it.
The patterned paper on the card base had vertical stripes, so I rotated it before adhering it to the card base.  I trimmed the other three edges off with my craft knife.
I printed the image on X-Press It blending card, heat set and coloured with Copic markers.  I cut the image panel on my craft mat, adhered to some black cardstock then cut the right, top and left sides to 1/8" using my Perfect Layers ruler.  I cut a sentiment panel to the same width as the image panel, adhered it in place then used the Perfect Layers ruler to cut the bottom edge with a 1/8" border.
I die cut the letters to make the sentiment, using release paper to help make them fall easily from the dies ... it really does make a difference.  I adhered the sentiment using liquid adhesive.
I cut a panel of red cardstock to match the darkest stripes, adhering it and the image panel in place with liquid adhesive.
I cut some tropical leaves in two sizes from four different green cardstock sheets with my Cameo, curled for dimension, layering them together to help frame the image.
Lucky last came a pair of eggs.  I had a little egg punch in my stash, so punched a couple, coloured with Copic markers and added a touch of sparkle with a clear Wink Of Stella glitter brush.  Popping the eggs in place with two different height foam dots made the finishing touch to this Christmas card.
Here are a couple more pics,
Winter flamingos for warm Christmas wishes
It's time for another challenge with us at the Southern Girls.
~~~*~~~*~~~

Today I have used the Winter Flamingos digital stamp by Sasayaki Glitterone of our generous sponsors this fortnight, to make a pair of A5 top folding Christmas cards.

Two of our nieces each have a precious daughter and I thought that this trio of flamingos would make a super cute Christmas card for their families of three.  We recently found out that one of the nieces is expecting twins in the New Year, so I added two little eggs, with the little girl looking down at the babies coming soon.

This post is to focus on the card with the big, bold stripes.

I started by planning my card on my Silhouette Cameo design mat, sizing the oval and image to fit on an A5 top folding card base.  Then I sized some leaves to embellish it.

I adhered the A5 card base to the sheet of patterned paper,
trimming off the edges for a perfect fit.

I printed the image on X-Press It blending card, heat set and coloured with Copic markers.  I cut the oval frame and a backing piece the same size for the image panel with my Cameo.  I have to confess that I fussy cut the image panel as I am having all sorts of trouble getting my Cameo to do print & cut with the X-Press It blending card ... it must be a bit shiny.  I adhered the image panel to the black oval, ensuring that there was nothing sticking out the edges from my fussy cutting, went around the edges with a black marker, then added the top oval frame.

I cut the sentiment banner on my craft mat and added the die cut sentiment.  Turns out my sizing wasn't quite right for the die cut alphas, so I had to put them a bit wonky to fit.  I hope that it makes it look a bit more merry ... still debating on putting a longer strip on top with the sentiment not so squishy.

I cut some tropical leaves in two sizes from four different green cardstock sheets with my Cameo, curled for dimension, layering them together to help frame the image.

Getting sketchy with the My Besties Spanish Challenge Blog DT

It's time for another challenge with us at the
My Besties Spanish Challenge Blog

Our challenge for October is
Challenge #40 - Anything Goes
The DT had threee three sketches, you don't need to use them,
they're here to help inspire you to get creative.

#1                                                        #2
#3

Remember:
You can participate with ANY project; altered, scrapbooking pages, cards, and anything you can think of.  If you have My Besties images, that would be ideal, but you can use any kind of stamps or digital stamps.
And also remember:
You are playing for My Besties digital Stamps!

~~~*~~~*~~~
Today I had the pleasure of colouring and creating with the super cute Sherri Baldy's My Besties img409 Urban Farm Diva Daisy May digital stamp to make a birthday card.
I used the first sketch and rotated it so that the image and panels were vertical.
I decided to make a 7" x 7" square card, sizing the image and panels to suit the features of the sketch.  I printed the image on X-Press It Blending card, heat set and coloured with Copic markers.
I created the 7" x 7" top folding card base by cutting two panels, scoring 1" down on the back panel to make the top fold and adhered the panels together.  Handy hint - rub your embossing stylus on a cake of soap to make the scoring smoother and crisper.
I adhered a panel of cardstock to the card front then layered the sheet of 6 1/2" patterned paper on top for a perfect border.  I punched a two strips of cardstock using Fiskars Fall Foliage border punch and layered them together, slightly offset, to make the middle panel from the sketch.  There is a thin strip of cardstock that becomes "waste" from the border punching process and I decided to "recycle" the strip by using it as a decorative accent against the foliage border, adding more contrast to the panel.
I die cut two doilies and layered them together then popped them with thin foam squares.
I trimmed the image panel down to size and double matted with cardstock, getting the perfect edge with my Perfect Layers ruler, 1/8" and 1/4".  I took some rich orange cardstock, punched a decorative edge using Fiskars Scalloped Sentiment border punch and adhered it under the matted image panel.  The matted image panel was popped in place with thick foam squares for more dimension.
I used a variety of flower punches to create some layered flowers, finishing each one off with a rhinestone.  Some flowers were adhered to the image panel and doily, otheres were popped with foam dots.  The finishing touch was the layered butterfly and a portion of black bling flourish.
The cluster of flowers and butterfly with bling are my creative
version of the camera and tag with twine from the sketch.
Lucky last came the die cut sentiment.
If you have visited before, you will know that I always have extra photos to share.
~~~*~~~*~~~

Today I have used the super cute Elf With Gifts digital stamp from Alicia Bel, one of our generous sponsors this week, to make a fun pop-up Christmas card.

I started with a cut file for a pop-up card on my Silhouette Cameo design mat and sized the Elf to suit then printed it on X-Press It blending card.  I heat set the image and coloured with Copic markers, fussy cut then went around the edges with a black marker.

I cut the pop up sections for the tree, gift and snow drifts using my Cameo then manually cut the card base, front panel and patterned paper panels on my craft mat.  I had plans to use some "real" bells on my card, so I found a font that looked jolly and cut out "jingle" several times using the PN Lady Bug Bold Font in 150pt.  I layered five of each letter together for dimension and coloured the top layer with Copic markers.

The three tiered tree was smothered with liquid adhesive and glitter before assembling.  It was finished off with pink rhinestones.  I coloured the gift box with Copic markers.

The layers were assembled with liquid adhesive,with the sentiment being last to go in place.  Sadly I only had small silver bells in my stash, so I tried going over them with a Copic marker ... all I can say is YR24 sure works a treat!  Gold thread was knotted on to each bell and then they were tied around the "g" for some extra jingle and fun.

The cool thing about this card is that it folds flat, with only the bells adding to the bulk.  It still fits nicely in a 6x6 card, so it should make for a happy surprise when opened.

Here are a few more pics to show the dimension of this fancy fold.

~~~*~~~*~~~
Julie stretched out creative limits this month by adding a twist.
We were challenged to create a Christmas project using the
Stampendous Owl Clock Cling Rubber Stamp.
... and I have to confess that I was challenged and that is GOOD!
Being challenged pushes our creative limits and gets us to work outside our comfort zone, learning so much along the way => Thank You Julie!
Once we were given the Christmas theme, my mind kept returning to Steampunk ideas, with lots of gears/cogs and metallics.
Here is my Steampunk Christmas card.
It is an 8"x 8" top fold.
I printed the image on X-press It blending card and coloured with Copic markers, fussy cut then went around the edges with a black marker.
I cut the patterned paper and printed the sentiment before assembling my card.
The font I used for the sentiment is Comic Sans MS
... wondering if the owl ate the mice?
I die cut bundles of cogs / gears from metallic cardstock and created a Christmas tree, layering different sizes and colours together for cheery Christmas decorations.
I tucked some mistletoe under the gears framing the top of the card,
so the owl is ready and waiting for a festive kiss.
... better photos to come when the sun is shining.
