Today I have used the Bookworm Fairy digital stamp by Hannah Lynn Art & Design, one of our generous sponsors this fortnight, to make a pair of bookmarks.

As soon as I saw the super cute Bookworm Fairy I knew she needed to be on a bookmark, so I started with a search for some reading quotes. The one that seemed most appropriate was "Books are a uniquely portable magic" by Stephen King.

Of course I had to start the action on my Silhouette Cameo design mat. NO, my Cameo didn't do any cutting but it helped me design the sentiment to suit the image. I wanted to use my go-to tag die (details below), so I measured the dimensions and made a panel as a guide to fitting everything in. I started with the image and enlarged it to just fit (size was limited by the width) then used a variety of fonts and font sizes to make the quote big, bold, fun and just fit within the edges of the tag. I printed the image/quote panel on X-press It blending card, heat set, die cut then coloured with Copic markers. I coloured the necklace and key with a shiny gold gel pen and added a delicate sparkle to the wings with a clear Wink Of Stella clear glitter brush.

Are you wondering how I got the twine to match perfectly?
I used some white twine with a twist of shining gold and added Copic markers.

I die cut two more tags from white cardstock and adhered them to the back of each tag to make them more sturdy. The reinforcement rings were coloured with Copic markers to match the clothes.

Slider magic with Through The Craft Room Door

This post is all about the second one, a magic slider card.

Unfortunately the only My Favorite Things exclusive products I have in my crafty stash are the shaker pouches shared in my previous sunflower shaker card post. The good news is that MFT stock a wonderful variety of essential crafting products, so I have linked to the products I have used so that you can purchase them from the MFT store.

I made two of these magical birthday cards so that I could show you the magic happen,
with one fully open and the other closed then gradually opening.
I'm sure I will be making more of these fun, interactive folds.

I started with a new magic slider cut file on my Silhouette Cameo design mat. The card is actually a print & cut but I wanted to personalise it by colouring with Copic markers, so I removed all the colour. I printed the front cake image on acetate and the image/sentiment panel on X-Press It blending card. I heat set the image/sentiment panel, coloured with Copic markers then trimmed to size. I cut all the coloured cardstock panels using my Cameo then assembled, starting with the coloured image panel and the "U" shaped spacers, adhering them all in place. I tucked the slider panel in through the slot, pulling it right up to the edge of the card fold. Next came the acetate panel. I applied high take double-sided adhesive around the inner edge of the back of the window (sure hope that makes sense, you can learn all about it on Lori's video tutorial HERE). I carefully aligned the acetate cake panel over the coloured image, holding it in place then slowly closing the front over it. All that was left was to do was to adhere the card front down and it was ready to make magic happen.

I have made two projects to share with you today.
This post is all about the first one, a sunflower shaker card.

I have used one of the super cool My Favorite Things Circle Shaker Pouches to transform a pretty sunflower card into a super shaking sunflower card,
filled with fun and birthday cheer.

I confess that the only have MFT exclusive product I have in my crafty stash are circle shaker pouches, so it was a pleasure to get creative and give them a workout.
My card started out as a cut file for a sunflower card (link below). There are bundles of layers in the middle of the flower, so I cut a 2" circle in the middle of the top layers to make a window for the shaker pouch to fit through. (Note: I had to enlarge the cut file so that the I could fit the 2" window.) I cut all the layers from textured cardstock and then the fun began.

I added dimension to the petals and leaves using the handle of a small paintbrush.
I gathered a bundle of 6mm gold/cream/black sequins (a mix in my stash), some 4mm gold sequins and black micro beads and mixed them together. I aligned one of the top "ring" layers on top of the "backing" layer for the shaker window, so that I could see where to adhere some sequins so that when the card is standing, the top of the window is not empty. I added a pile of my shaker mix to the middle then carefully removed the top layer that I used as a template, added adhesive to the edge of the circle shaker pouch and carefully positioned it in place. I finished adhering all the flower layers together then adhered them to the card front, tucking in the leaves.

Next came the sentiment panel. I added brown layers to match the sunflower, finishing off with a die cut sentiment. At this stage I stood the card up and it was a bit "wobbly" because I added a lot more weight to the top of it, so I quickly gathered the brown sheets of cardstock and matted the inside with lots of layers ... it worked perfectly, the card now stands proud and tall.

Some bunny loves you . . .

Today I had the pleasure of colouring and creating with the super cute
Sherri Baldy's My Besties img109 Carrot House digital stamp.

I printed the image on A5 X-Press It blending card, heat set then coloured with Copic markers.
I matted an A5 top folding card base with luscious orange cardstock, added a panel of vibrant pink cardstock then adhered the matted image panel in place.

I used the Cupcakia font to make the sentiment, trimmed then popped in place using foam dots.
Lucky last were some enamel dots ... I confess, they were not planned. After adhering everything in place, I saw a flaw in the cardstock that had to be hidden ... I think the black works well with the bold sentiment and outlines of the image.
