Birthday Wishes . . . for a Cool Dude

Christmas is just around the corner ...

and we have several birthdays coming up,

a couple just before and a couple just after ...

I used a digital stamp called "Cockatoo Rules" from The Paper Shelter.

I can't colour at the moment so it was a real bonus that

this digital stamp comes with a pre-coloured image.

I opened the image in my Silhouette Design Studio, along with cut file (details below)

and sized them to make a 6" square card.

I printed the image panel on textured cardstock and fussy cut the circle shape and around the top feathers of his crest.  Next came the frame (details below), which I cut using my Silhouette Cameo.

I manually cut a 6" x 6" top folding square card base, adhered the frame, then adhered the fussy cut image panel.  The crest feathers really pop against the background.

I used the negative pieces to mat the inside of the card.

This cool dude is the perfect image for the Birthday Boy,

he used to race motorbikes, now he sells them.

Christmas wreath card

Today I have a Christmas wreath card to share.

It's tall (A5 size) and dimensional.

I used a combination of die cuts and cut files to create this card.

I opened both cut files on my Silhouette Studio design mat, sized the three different types of foliage (mistletoe, holly and pine sprigs) to suit an A5 card, then cut using my Silhouette Cameo using different shades of green cardstock.  I added sparkling red rhinestones to the "berry" sections of the holly sprigs, then curled all the foliage pieces for extra dimension.

I matted an A5 sheet of heavy weight cardstock with red textured cardstock and adhered a strip of cream burlap.  I took another sheet of A5 heavy weight cardstock, scored at 3/4" then adhered to the front matted panel to make a top folding card. 

I roughly cut a 3 3/4" circle to use as a guide for my wreath, adhering four of the pine sprigs and holly twigs to make rings.  I adhered the pine sprig ring to the burlap panel, then adhered the ring of holly sprigs, followed by tucking the mistletoe sprigs under holly leaves to complete the top layer of the wreath.

The "merry" sentiment is four red layers adhered together, offset with a cream background.

The "Christmas" sentiment is a single layered die cut adhered to a matching red panel.

The "merry" is popped in place with foam dots

Today I have used the 3D Christmas Tree Set cut file from The Cutting Cafe , one of our generous sponsors this week, to make a pair of dimensional Christmas tree cards.

The card fronts have a tree shaped window so that the dimensional tree can pop out.

I layered five green trees on top of the trunk layer to give lots of dimension and the cards still fold flat for mailing.

I love to make CAS (Clean And Simple) cards,
interactive cards and cards with fancy folds.

I made some more CAS cards and another with fancy folds,
now it's time for some more interactive cards.

I made my very first X-fold card the other day (HERE)

They're a fancy fold that is also interactive, as you can get the snowflake to swirl and twirl with the lightest tap or puff of air.  Today I decided that I needed some more of these pretties, along with some more sentiments.

I combined two different cut files (details linked below), one for the X-card base and matting layers, one for the layered snowflake.  I opened my Silhouette Studio mat, sized the layered snowflake to fit inside the "window", added sentiments to the banners, then used my Cameo to cut all the layers from textured cardstock.  I used liquid adhesive to secure the snowflake layers together, adding a strand of metallic twine in each one, then adhered the X panels together, placing the snowflake/twine just before the final layers were pushed together.

And here is my pretty pastel flurry of snowflakes on display.

The prompt from Day 30 is to "Do what we love"

I love to make CAS (Clean And Simple) cards,
interactive cards and cards with fancy folds.

I made some CAS cards earlier today, now it's time for some more fancy folds.
These folds are doubly fancy, as the card is a fancy "easel fold"
and the scalloped tree is a dimensional "accordion fold".

I opened the card base cut file (details below) in my Silhouette Studio, enlarged, added a sentiment to the sentiment panel, cut the pieces with my Silhouette Cameo then assembled.  The fiddly part was the scalloped tree.  I cut five scalloped tree panels, scored along the middle, folded firmly then adhered them together.  Having the five layers gives plenty of dimension and allows for the tree to still squash down flat.  The finished card is 6 1/2" wide by 5" tall but looks a lot larger.

Here is the closed front view ... the scalloped tree pops up beautifully.

The card has fabulous dimension when the easel is propped up against the sentiment panel and the tree pops out.

My "S" card is a Sweet Santa Shaped card.

I used my Silhouette Cameo and a cut file to create these cards.  I opened my Silhouette Studio mat, enlarged the card base to be 5 1/2" tall, then used my Cameo to cut all the pieces from textured cardstock.

I had to curl the ends of Santa's moustache
... it reminds me of my Great Grandfather

My "N" is Naughty or Nice.
Santa always needs some help with his list before he gets to check it twice.

I opened a North Pole cut file in my Silhouette Studio, made a 5" x 7" dome shape (I was thinking snow dome), sized the pole elements to fit, added the sentiments, printed the signs then cut and assembled the pieces to make a pair of cards.

I love to make CAS (Clean And Simple) cards,

I also love the adorable little
Gnomes In My Garden digital stamp set from Beccy's Place
and they're perfect for cheery CAS cards.
Unfortunately I can't colour at the moment so it's a real
bonus having pre-coloured images in this set of digital stamps.

I assembled the three pre-coloured gnomes into a line together,
added the HO HO HO sentiment, printed on textured cardstock,
trimmed, matted then adhered to a 7" x 5" card base.

They're saying HO HO HO but I'm wondering it they're thinking BAH HUMBUG

R is for more ... Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

The prompt from Day 20 is the letter "R"

My "R" is Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
and each reindeer has a wobbly bobble head.

These interactive reindeer cards were made using a cut file with my Silhouette Cameo.  I enlarged the file before cutting and assembling the pieces.  It is a very CAS design but the reindeer is so cute that I didn't think it needed any embellishments.

The cool thing about this card is the wobbling action.

His head wobbles and bobs around at the slightest touch or puff of air.

We have a lovely breeze flowing through the house today, so it was fun watching these dear little deer with heads bobbing about while waiting to get their photo taken.

Here is what the Action Wobble Spring looks like.

Although there a lot of dimension and movement with the Action Wobble Spring,
it squashes down flat for mailing.
