A Prickly BOO from the Southern Girls

It's time for another challenge with us at the Southern Girls.

This fortnight Team Lou have created projects to inspire you for the new challenge

I Am Roses

~~~*~~~*~~~
Today I have used a cactus from the Cacti digital stamp set by Lia Stampz, one of our generous sponsors this fortnight.  I added a little spook to my cactus and made a cute Halloween card.
I opened the image in Silhouette Studio, added a sentiment (details below), printed on X-Press It blending card, heat set then coloured with Copic markers.  I trimmed the image panel to size and adhered it to a 5" x 7" card base.  I finished off my CAS card by adding some fun googly eyes, transforming my cactus into a prickly ghost.
I used some of my favourite Copic markers and after some searching blends on the internet, I added some new ones to make some new-to-me green and orange blends.  They are so vibrant in real life and I know I will be using them again.
Christmas Cheer with Pennys
It's time for a new challenge with us on the
The Paper Shelter
~~~*~~~*~~~

Today I have used the For Santa digital stamp from The Paper Shelter, our generous sponsor for this challenge, to make a Christmas card.

I had an old sketch (see Mojo Monday 524) in mind for this card, so I opened the image in Silhouette Studio and started to design the panels to make a 5" x 7" card.  I created an oval 3.5" x 3.75" and sized the image to fit inside then made a 1/16" offset.  I printed the image panel on X-Press It blending card, heat set, cut with the Cameo then coloured with Copic markers.  I cut the oval mat from black cardstock using the Cameo.  I cut the card front, matting panels and strips (using a good old fashioned ruler & craft knife) then assembled the card using liquid adhesive.  I finished off by adhering the completed panel to a 5" x 7" card base and adhering the cheery lime rhinestone strips.

If you click on the image you can see the detail in the tree trunk ...

Halloween Treats with A Bit More Time To Craft

It's time for a new challenge with us on the

As always, the challenge is Anything Goes.
Three to five random winners are drawn and
each get to choose 3 set of papers from the Paper Pick Tab

~~~*~~~*~~~
Today I have used the It's Cracked digital paper by Lozzy at A Bit More Time To Craft to make some Halloween goodies.  This digital paper set comes in eighteen, yes, 18 different colours and they're perfect for cardmaking, scrapbooking and off-the-page projects, like I have created today.  If you're a lucky challenge winner, you could include this set as one of your Paper Picks.  On a side note, there are two colours from this design available as a freebie on the Freebie Tab.
I started by opening the It's Cracked digital paper and the cut files that I needed to create the sign, coffins and bowl in Silhouette Studio.  I sized the everything so that I could fit the digital patterned paper elements on A4 sheets of cardstock and still be within the Cameo cut border.  Full details and links to the cut files are listed below.
Let's start with the sign.  I sized the "trick or treat" art panel to fit on the A4 patterned paper panel and printed it on A4 textured cardstock.  The textured cardstock works perfectly with the It's Cracked digital paper, as it looks like cracked, weathered stone in real life, perfect for Halloween.  I adhered a layer of black cardstock to the back of the sign to make it sturdier.  The sign is 8 1/8" wide and 10 3/4" tall.
I added an easel to the back of the sign.  I enlarged easel the cut file from the original size to be 7 1/2" square, giving plenty of support for the sign.  This easel mechanism folds out to make a secure stand for the sign and folds flat for easy storage too.
Next comes the coffin treat boxes.  These are a fun design made even better with the contrasting It's Cracked digital paper.  I kept this file in the original size because it was already quite large and three of the coffin top matting layers fitted perfectly for printing and cutting on A4 sheets of cardstock.
The coffins are 7 1/8" x 4", they come with two compartments and are quite sturdy too.
I thought these would be pretty popular with some of the Trick Or Treaters
who usually visit, so I have already made nine, with more to come.
Lucky last comes the bowl.  I kept this file in the original size because it was already quite large.  I had to print and cut two A4 sheets for the contrasting  It's Cracked digital paper matting layers.  They make the bowl look like it's carved from weathered stone, making a matching set with the sign and coffin treats.  The bowl is 7" across from flat side to flat side and 8" across from point to point.  I added a hexagon to line the inside of the bowl and cover the tabs where the sides adhered to the base.
It might only be made from cardstock but it's a very sturdy bowl.
I can't wait to set these up on the Halloween table to welcome all the little
(and not so little) Trick Or Treaters who come visit each year.
~~~*~~~*~~~

Today I have used the Bunch Of Roses digital stamp and Delicate Lace digital paper from Twinkle Lane Designs, one of our generous sponsors this week, to make two cards.  Yes, our challenge is Halloween Colours but as you can see, although I have used the traditional orange, green, purple and black, my cards are far from being a Halloween theme.

I opened the digital image and paper in Silhouette Studio and sized the image panel to suit a 5" x 7" card.  To make the lace of the digital patterned paper more delicate, I duplicated the paper so that they made 4 7/8" x 6 7/8" panel when two were joined together.  This digital stamp comes with three lovely sentiments, so I sized each one to fit on my card too.  I printed the image and sentiments on X-Press It blending card, I printed the patterned paper panels on textured white cardstock.  I trimmed the panels down to size then coloured the images with Copic markers.
I decided to try two different orange blends.

This one uses the following Copic markers - Y35 + Y38 + YR04 + YR09
and has become my Candy Corn Halloween Rose.

I matted each panel with black cardstock, getting the perfect 1/16" border on each one by using my Perfect Layers Ruler.  I cut a 1/2" black strip to cover the (digital) join in the patterned paper.  I secured all the layers in place using liquid adhesive.  I originally planned the cards to be 5" x 7" but I decided to finish them off with a wider 3/16" white border cut using my Perfect Layers Ruler.
My cards ended up being 5 3/8" x 7 3/8".

The other orange blend is much softer, using YR61 + YR65 + YR68

Singing Snowmen and Fancy Folds at Penny's

It's time for a new challenge with us on the
As always, the challenge is Anything Goes.

~~~*~~~*~~~
Today I have used the Singing Snowmen digital stamp from Hetty Clare, one of our generous sponsors for this challenge, to make a Christmas card filled with fancy folds.
I started with a cut file for a centre step card with a gift card holder inside.  I opened the file and image in Silhouette Studio, sized the image panel to fit, added a sentiment, printed it on X-Press It blending card, heat set then coloured with Copic markers.  The shading for the snowmen and snow is a combination of C00 + BG0000 + "0", full details are listed below.
I cut the card elements with my Silhouette Cameo, scored the folds and adhered the layers to assemble the card.  Next came bundles of die cutting, so that I had plenty of assorted white snowflakes ready to be layered on black snowflakes.  I adhered the black and white snowflakes together then adhered them to the card using a combination of liquid adhesive and foam dots.
The finished card is 5" x 7" when folded flat.
The card looks pretty from the front as well as the sides
and it folds flat for mailing.
When you open the card, there is a section to insert a gift card and write you Christmas message.
Too Sweet To Spook
It's time for a new challenge with us on the
As always, the challenge is Anything Goes.
~~~*~~~*~~~

Today I have used the Cinderella digital stamp from Star Stampz, one of our generous sponsors for this challenge, to make a Halloween card.  ... I know, it's Cinderella but she really is too cute to spook, so they make a perfect combination for some fun .

I opened the Cinderella image in Silhouette Studio, along with the sentiment and sized both panels to fit on a 6 1/4" square card.  I printed the panels, heat set, coloured the image with Copic markers then trimmed the panels down to size.  I matted the panels using the 1/16" edge of my Perfect Layers Ruler.  I wanted my card to be a mix of sweet and wicked, so I die cut a lacy border panel, a spider web and spider.  I matted the card base with mauve cardstock and adhered the layers in place using liquid adhesive.  I adhered the spider with a black foam dot and bent his legs, so he looks like he is walking over the sentiment.  I finished off the sweet elements by adding a touch of sparkling Stardust Stickles to her dress, hairband and glass slipper, with a line of twinkling purple rhinestones to the lace border.

Isn't if funny how projects evolve?  I started out planning a flowery birthday card and the pending spookiness of Halloween took over.

If you click on the images below, you should be able to see the sparkle in full screen.
