Crafty Gals Corner - Challenge #105 - Use Patterned Paper

It's time for another challenge with us at the

This week we are letting our creative juices flow with
Challenge #105 - Use Patterned Paper

The sponsors for this challenge are:

Cute as a Button

Prize: 3 Digital Images

My Besties

Sherri Baldy Etsy / Sherri Baldy Bestie Shop

Prize: The following 3 images

Sami Stamps
Prize: $12 Gift Certificate

Today I have used the IMG858 My Besties
digital stamp from Sherri Baldy, one of our generous sponsors this week.
I coloured the image using Copic markers (details below).

This 6x6" card is my first time making a twisted easel,
a fun fold that I look forward to making again.
The patterned paper is from the Fly Free 6 1/2" paper pad by Kaisercraft.  I chose this as I thought the design went well with the dress and background of the digital stamp.

It is difficult to see but the background panel has been coloured with shades of yellow using Copic markers.

I cut the wires from the flowers then adhered them in place using Helmar 450 Quick Dry liquid adhesive ... it's like using a hot glue gun without the "hot".

I used the wires too.  I coiled each one around the end of one of my fine paint brushes, added a dollop of Helmar 450 Quick Dry to the end of each one and tucked them between the flowers.

You know how the colour bleeds through to the back when colouring with Copic markers?  Well I layered my finish image panel on some black cardstock and fussy cut it out, so that the portion that stands "free" when the card is open looks neat from the front and back.  I went around the edges with my Memento Tuxedo Black Dual Tip marker.

Here are some different views of this fancy fold and pretty image.

  4. What an absolutely charming card! The structure itself is so clever and I love how you paired those great angular folds with the soft floral elements. And your girl! She is gorgeous and you brought her to life so beautifully. I also think you have a wonderful eye for combining patterns and colors because the floral background paper you chose looks amazing. This card made me smile from ear to ear and I'm so glad you shared your talents with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
