Today I have used the Gabbie Birthday Fairy digital stamp from Faery Ink,
one of our fabulous sponsors for the challenge this week.

This cute image comes with and without balloons.

Today I have gone without the balloons, adding die cut ones separately.

I coloured Gabbie using Copic markers, using Wink Of Stella Glitter Pens for the cupcake and hair bow.  I used a very delicate shade for the wings, adding sparkle with Clear Wink Of Stella Brush Pen.

What do you think?  Does she need red lipstick?  Do they need to sparkle?

Yes, another box card ... they are addictive.

Like the previous one, the top flaps are 3" square, the base panels 3" wide x 4" tall.

Some of the stars and balloons are attached to the card base and bridges, others are attached to lengths of acetate, so they wobble around and look like they are floating. 

The card folds flat for mailing.

I was inspired by Laura's November Monthly Meetup Challenge on the Lil' Inker Design Blog

At long last, here is a photo of my card.  The phone & internet lines have been down all morning and the connection has only just been restored.  Sadly I missed the deadline for the link-up to this challenge but I'm happy to have Ben's birthday card ready in time.

There are five balloons, as the birthday boy is turning five.

The Balloon String Die has three strings, so I cut an extra one and trimmed off two strings to add to the other balloons in the background.
This is a colour combo that I look forward to using again :)

Shakers make for fun cards

and I'm hoping the Birthday Girl enjoys hers.

 Here is a close-up to show the dimension and how the colours of the sequins match the patterned paper perfectly.  There is a sheet of foam between the patterned paper & the mauve mat and another sheet between the mauve mat & the dark purple base ... I wanted to have lots of room for plenty of sequins and a lot of shaking.  I adhered some of the sequins and the tiny "negative" bits from the middle of the sequins in the window so that it wasn't empty when standing upright.  My Silhouette Pick-Me-Up Tool came in very handy for picking up and placing them all.
The balloons are a combination from three different sets (details below).  I couldn't resist adding a smiley face to a heart balloon and adhered it to a dark purple one so that you could see it clearly.
There are six balloons as the birthday girl is turning six real soon.

I tied holographic thread to each balloon then knotted them together, securing the knot in a brad which I put through the decorative strip.  One balloon was adhered directly to the card, the others were a combination of single or double layered foam dots.  Can you see how I curled the ends of the balloon strings?  I confess, it took me longer to get these balloons sorted than it did to make the rest of the card but it was worth every minute of the delicate fiddling about.

I layered three dark purple sentiments under the mauve top layer for extra POP.

I just had to share another photo, the sequins sparkle and, as they're almost holographic, the purple, pink and aqua shades change as they move.

Peppa Pig birthday

We have two little girls turning 5 this month and I thought that

Miss Peppa Pig might be a fun way to help them celebrate.

Here is the first one of the two cards, the second is still being pieced together.

This huge stepper card stands 8 1/4" tall and 5 7/8" wide

Here is my recipe for a paper-pieced Peppa Pig:

• Head & body - Fiskars XXL circle lever punch 2 1/2"
• Cheek - Fiskars Medium Round 'n Round squeeze punch - 1"
• Nostrils & eyes - confetti from Lil' Inker Designs Baubled Christmas Tree die
  I adhered them together then coated them with Glossy Accents
• Mouth - Fiskars Medium Round 'n Round squeeze punch - 1"
  I double-punched the circle, held in the punch with a Post-It Note
• Ears - Fiskars XL Petal By Petal squeeze punch, smallest petal
• Hands - Fiskars LE Owl squeeze punch
  I trimmed the legs out of the body
• Tail - Fiskars Swirl Around lever punch
• Legs - 1/4" strips
• Shoes - 1/4" strip Fiskars 1/4 corner round squeeze punch
  I adhered the shoes to the legs then coated them Glossy Accents

Other products used for my card include:

• Star Dust Stickles - used to add sparkle to the pink inlaid stars of the balloons

Think about adding some punched grassy border layers to "ground" Peppa

and some matting the inside of the card too

I use lots of pink and orange cardstock in my crafting and tend to accumulate a lot of scrappy pieces from each 12 x 12 sheet, so I had plenty of SUPER SCRAPS on hand to punch & die cut the elements to embellish this card.

8th birthday "celebr 8" shaker card

Shaker cards are so much fun - interactive and sparkly too!!!

Eight balloons for a GR8 birthday :)

Check out that CUTE smiley face :)

The card is a tall A5 size (8 1/4" high).  I confess that I trimmed off the "stepper" part from the front of a blank A5 Stepper Card Base by Fundamentals (Ruby Rock-It).  I LOVE this size, it is a top fold and the cardstock is so sturdy.

I used Paper Smooches Pinked Circles, Balloons, Big Balloons & Birthday Words dies and 4mm & 6mm Sparkling Clear, Raspberry & Cobalt sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.  This is the second shaker card I have made and I still have more to learn to make them better, full details in the tutorial below.

Here is my tutorial for creating this card.

1. Cut the cobalt blue cardstock mat, patterned paper & accent strips to size and set in place - do not adhere yet
2. Align the largest die from the Paper Smooches Pinked Circles die set over the accent strips & patterned paper to where the shaker window will be, secure in place over the top accent strip & patterned paper with Washi Tape, die cut (I used my Big Shot) then carefully remove the tape so that the paper or cardstock doesn't tear.  Layer the accent strips together and carefully trip the lower strip so that it doesn't show from under the die cut section of the top strip.  I kept the lower strip separate so that the other two layers would cut cleanly with the die, didn't want to overload the die or my Big Shot sandwich.
3. Adhere the accent strips to the patterned paper.
4. Adhere a section of acetate to the window.  I used Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Adhesive.
5. Cut a sheet of foam slightly smaller than the patterned paper panel, mark the window and cut out an area slightly larger than the pinked window.  I cut mine too large and later regretted it, because all the sequins are not visible.
6. Cut white cardstock to the same size as the patterned paper.
7. Adhere the white cardstock to the blue mat.
8. Adhere the foam sheet to the white layer, ensuring the window is in the right position.  I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry because I find it is easier to align layers with a liquid adhesive and this is a strong, clear glue that dries fast and secures different surfaces together well, just like a hot glue gun without the burns.  Make sure that the layers are pressed down evenly so that there are no bulges of glue underneath.
9. Fill the well with sequins - I used a mix of 4mm & 8mm Sparkling Clear, Raspberry & Cobalt sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.
10. Adhere the patterned paper on top of the foam sheet, ensuring the edges & window are aligned.
11. Cut assorted balloons using Paper Smooches Balloons die set.  I also used the smiley face from the Paper Smooches Big Balloons die set on one of the balloons then layered it so that the smiley face was clearly visible.  Tie thread to each balloon and knot three times, I found that a double knot started to come loose during handling.
12. Secure the balloons in place, some flat against the card, others on foam squares for dimension.
13. Draw the balloon strings together, knot & secure with a brad.  This is why I didn't adhere the mat to the card base earlier, so the brad is pushed through the layers and well hidden from behind without any bulges.
14. Cut several sets of the "celebrate" word from the Paper Smooches Birthday Words die set.  Because I wanted to do a play on words for this 8th birthday card, I only used the "celebr" portion, laying several together for dimension, adhering with Tombow Mono Multi.  I used the negative to align the letters while adhering them together and to the patterned paper.
15. Adhere the finished panel to the card base.
