Day 27 - X is for X-Press It again

It's time for the 12th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.

Day 27 - X

Beccy's inspiration is a delightful winter scene card HERE,

with the snowman coloured beautifully on X-Press It blending card.

My "X" is also for X-Press It blending card, again,

I printed the image panel on X-Press It blending card

and made another Cute Curly Candy Cane Christmas Card

coloured with Copic markers,  this time

I swapped the red and green from my first card.

this is my fourth Candy Cane Christmas Card.

Like my first Curly Candy Cane Card, I used Silhouette Studio to create the image panel for my card.  I sized the Curly Candy Cane digital stamp from the Candy Canes digital stamp set from Beccy’s Place to fit a 4" square panel.  I created the sentiment (font details below), printed the panel on X-Press It blending card then manually trimmed to size.  I used Copic markers to colour the candy cane, OK, it's partially coloured, this is my quirky take on the "loading t-shirts" you see people wearing and translating it to Christmas.  Once coloured, I matted the panel with sparkling red glitter cardstock.  I made a 5 1/2" square top folding card base, adhered the image panel and my Candy Cane Christmas Card was complete.

Day 27 - X

X is for X-Press It

... X-Press It Blending Card

Another card that started in Silhouette Studio.  I combined the "Single Bell" digital stamp and the "Merry Little Christmas" digital sentiment from the Jingle Bell digital stamp set by Beccy’s Place.  I printed the image on X-Press It blending card and coloured with Copic markers.  I trimmed the panel down to size, matted with black cardstock and trimmed to 1/16" border with a Perfect Layers Ruler.  I adhered the matted panel to a slimline card base that I created from 300gsm smooth white cardstock.  Lucky last came a luscious coating of sparkle to the bell with a Clear Wink Of Stella Clear Glitter Brush.

Today I have used the Flower Square digital stamp from Ike's Art,

one of our generous sponsors this month.

This is such a pretty panel filled with flowers and lovely "leadlight" segments that I decided to create an "eclipse" sentiment.  I printed the image on X-Press It blending card, heat set, trimmed to size and coloured with Copic markers.  I layered some release paper over the image panel and used my Sizzix Big Shot to die cut a large sentiment from the panel.  I used the same die to cut five black sentiments.  I made a top folding card base and adhered the image panel in place.  I adhered one of the black sentiments into the negative space on the card front the adhered the middle of the coloured "o" and "e" in place.  I layered the other four black sentiment die cuts together, topping it with the coloured piece then adhered the thick layer onto the front of the card.

When you first look at the card it looks like a solid panel but when you look at it at a slight angle, the extra layers make the "love" pop.

Today I have used the Ready For Christmas digital stamp from SheepSki Designs,
one of the generous sponsors, to make a "First Christmas" card and ornament/tag.

I opened the Ready For Christmas digital stamp in Silhouette Studio, along with an ornament cut file (details below) and sized the elements to make a slimline style card with lots of layers.  I created a sentiment for the card and the back of the ornament/tag and printed the image / sentiment panels on X-Press It blending card.  I cut the round image panels with the Cameo, heat set then coloured with Copic markers.  I used the Cameo to cut the matting layers for the ornaments from glitter cardstock (first time cutting this and it cut beautifully) and the ornaments from metallic cardstock.  I cut some extra ornaments from metallic cardstock and used a scalloped square squeeze punch to make ornate toppers for the front and back of each ornament.  (My punch collection began when I started cardmaking and I am so glad I have kept them.  Even though I added a Sizzix Big Shot and a Silhouette Cameo to my stash over recent years, punches are such a handy-dandy tool.  Do you still treasure your lever, squeeze and border punches?)  I used liquid adhesive to secure all the ornament/tag layers.  The sentiment panel was manually cut (ruler + craft knife + self healing craft mat) and layered with the same cardstock to match the ornaments.  The silver glitter cardstock is 1/8", the metallic cardstock is 1/32".  I made the card base from an A4 sheet of heavy white cardstock, trimming down the left over bit from the sheet to make the front panel of the card.  I matted the panel to match the ornaments and sentiment panels.  I used liquid adhesive to secure all the layers to the card, adding some thin foam squares behind the ornament so that it could "straddle" the sentiment strip and sit flat on the card.

Here is a tip for punching small items with your squeeze punches.
Tape your item to be punched to a larger piece of cardstock
and hold the cardstock to align the piece for perfect punching.
