Elegant Potted Lavender

You may have seen this card HERE from earlier today.

Well, I have to confess that I loved the image so much that I made a second card.

I have used the Potted Lavender digital stamp by A Day For Daisies to make a tall A5 CAS birthday card.  I opened the image panel on my Silhouette Studio design mat and sized it to fit on an A5 panel.  I added the sentiment then printed the image panel on a sheet of A5 X-Press It blending card.  I coloured the image with Copic markers then embellished with some score lines.  I adhered the image panel to an A5 card base using liquid adhesive.

I really like how the score lines add an elegant touch
... but they sure are difficult to photograph.

Rabbits, ribbon & lace . . . oh my

It's time for another challenge with us at the

This week we are letting our creative juices flow with
Challenge #148 - Lace and Ribbon

The sponsor for this challenge is:

Prize: 3 digital images

Today I have used the Easter Bunny digital stamp from Fabrika Fantasy,
one of our generous sponsors this week, to make an easel card.

Our challenge for this week is calling for ribbon and lace, so I had fun weaving black satin ribbon through the paper lace panel of my card.

I planned my card on my Silhouette Cameo design mat, starting with an ornate panel (Laced Topper, free cut file, details below) that I converted into an easel card.  I sized the digital image to fit inside the front panel and added a pretty green background using digital paper (details below).

I printed the image on X-Press It blending card, heat set then coloured with Copic markers.  I trimmed the panel down and matted with black cardstock.  I thought the black tied in well with the image, as it has quite solid lines.  I added some Wink Of Stella sparkle to the egg.

Next came the card base.  I cut the base, inner lacy mat, top lacy panel and top mat using my Silhouette Cameo.  I scored the base halfway along to make the top fold, then scored the in the 3rd "valley" of the design to make the "easel" fold.  I took the inner matting panel and trimmed off the top edge (just below the circles of the lacy pattern) and adhered it inside the card.

I tried several different black satin ribbons and ended up using a 3mm spool to weave through the circles of the lacy pattern for the top front panel.  As each corner ended with a circle, I used four lengths of ribbon, pulling the ends back and adhering them securely in place with liquid adhesive.  I adhered the matted image panel in place then decided that it needed some bling, so I added tiny rhinestones to the tips of the design of the lacy panel.  I used liquid adhesive to secure the panel in place on the matting layer, then adhered the bottom half of the panel to the bottom half of the card base (I applied liquid adhesive to the card base then aligned the front panel on top).

I trimmed layers for the sentiment panel and used my MISTI to stamp the sentiment (and really appreciated that I could repeat stamp it perfectly several times, as the textured cardstock really didn't want to be stamped).  I adhered the layers together and popped it in place with foam dots.
 Once all the pieces were in place I decided to add more bling, starting with a fancy black bling pattern to the Easter egg and finishing with black rhinestones to the circles of the inside matting layer.

Here are some more pics.

Southern Girls - Challenge #156 - Use A Die Cut with Team Lou

It's time for another challenge with us at the Southern Girls.

This fortnight Team Lou have created projects to inspire you for the new challenge

Our awesome sponsors for this challenge are ...

KennyK Stamps FREEBIE blinkie
~~~*~~~*~~~
Today I have used the fun "Elfie Selfie" digital stamp by KennyK Stamps, one of our generous sponsors this fortnight.
I placed the image panel on my Silhouette Studio mat and adjusted the film strip cut file to fit perfectly.  I cut the film strip out of black cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo.
I coloured the image panels with Copic markers, adding Stickles to the trims on Santa's hat and clothes, then smothered them with "Snow" glitter.
I die cut a bundle of alphas using my Sizzix Big Shot and Kaisercraft Uppercase Alphabet dies, so that I could make a variety of hashtag sentiments from #ELFIESELFIE and #HOHOHO to #SANTA and #SANTASELFIE
The patterned paper panels are from the Kaisercraft Holly Jolly 6 1/2" paper pad, so I made my card bases 6 3/4" square to fit the sheets perfectly.  The size worked perfectly with the 1" alphas I used to make the hashtag sentiments too.
... more embossing
I was super lucky and received two images for
the Crafty Gals Corner - Challenge #86 - Emboss It,
so I have two cards to share this week.
I coloured her with Copic markers, fussy cut then went around the edges with a Versamark Memento Tuxedo Black dual tip marker.  This was my first time using this marker and it worked wonderfully, no bleeding and good coverage of all the white edges ... I'm asking myself why didn't I order one of these years ago?!?!?
Needless to say, I highly recommend one for every crafty stash now that I've used it.
I also recommend that Copic markers are opened well away from your work.
I am fairly new to the wonderful world of Copic colouring and some of my markers are super juicy, leaving little splatters each time the caps are removed.
Splatters on your image are a real nuisance, especially if they land after an area has been coloured.  Even the Colourless Blender has its limitations.
I dry embossed the lines in the background, trying to make her look like she has the spotlight shining on this cute little ringmaster.  Or should I say ringmistress?
I heat embossed the die cut "celebrate" sentiment.  ... it was a fiddly job, but well worth it.  I die cut the sentiment, took each letter and covered them with Versamark Ink using the brush tip of the pen, smothered them with clear embossing powder then carefully placed them in the negative piece from the original die cutting.  I placed a strip of Washi Tape along the back, so that the letters stayed securely in place for when I zapped them with the heat gun.  It was my first time trying this technique and it worked a treat, not one letter went flying.
