First Christmas 2020

I'm thrilled to be
~~~*~~~*~~~
The first sponsor for this challenge is:
SheepSki Designs
I have linked the sponsor product in my ingredients below.
~~~*~~~*~~~

Today I have used the Ready For Christmas digital stamp from SheepSki Designs,
one of the generous sponsors, to make a "First Christmas" card and ornament/tag.

I opened the Ready For Christmas digital stamp in Silhouette Studio, along with an ornament cut file (details below) and sized the elements to make a slimline style card with lots of layers.  I created a sentiment for the card and the back of the ornament/tag and printed the image / sentiment panels on X-Press It blending card.  I cut the round image panels with the Cameo, heat set then coloured with Copic markers.  I used the Cameo to cut the matting layers for the ornaments from glitter cardstock (first time cutting this and it cut beautifully) and the ornaments from metallic cardstock.  I cut some extra ornaments from metallic cardstock and used a scalloped square squeeze punch to make ornate toppers for the front and back of each ornament.  (My punch collection began when I started cardmaking and I am so glad I have kept them.  Even though I added a Sizzix Big Shot and a Silhouette Cameo to my stash over recent years, punches are such a handy-dandy tool.  Do you still treasure your lever, squeeze and border punches?)  I used liquid adhesive to secure all the ornament/tag layers.  The sentiment panel was manually cut (ruler + craft knife + self healing craft mat) and layered with the same cardstock to match the ornaments.  The silver glitter cardstock is 1/8", the metallic cardstock is 1/32".  I made the card base from an A4 sheet of heavy white cardstock, trimming down the left over bit from the sheet to make the front panel of the card.  I matted the panel to match the ornaments and sentiment panels.  I used liquid adhesive to secure all the layers to the card, adding some thin foam squares behind the ornament so that it could "straddle" the sentiment strip and sit flat on the card.

Here is the front of the ornament / tag . . .

. . . and here is the back of the ornament / tag.

 . . . and here they are together again . . .

Here is a tip for punching small items with your squeeze punches.
Tape your item to be punched to a larger piece of cardstock
and hold the cardstock to align the piece for perfect punching.

I confess, I'm a bit of a ribbon collector.  I'm not so good at using them, so in reality I'm a ribbon hoarder.  I find it a challenge to make pretty bows, so my favourite way of using ribbon is to loop it and tie a knot, just like I have on the ornament on my card and my ornament/tag, pretty sparkling ribbon without suffering wonky bow stress.

Fancy Folds and Mermaid Kisses

It's time for a new challenge with us on the

As always, the challenge is Anything Goes.
Three to five random winners are drawn and
each get to choose 3 set of papers from the Paper Pick Tab

~~~*~~~*~~~
Today I have used the Droplets (Droplets 7and the Fun (Fun 19digital paper sets by Lozzy at A Bit More Time To Craft to make a pair of cheery birthday cards filled with fancy folds and mermaid kisses.
I opened the cut files for the cards (details below, I combined two) along with the Droplets (Droplets 7and the Fun (Fun 19digital papers in Silhouette Studio.  I sized the papers to fit the patterned paper layers of the cards, printed then cut with my Cameo.  I cut all elements for the mermaid and tropical island from smooth white cardstock and coloured them with Copic markers.  I created the sentiment panel (by editing the cut file linked below) and a used a digital font to make the mermaid sentiment, printed then cut with my Cameo.  I used assorted dies and punches to add detail to the layers of the scene, colouring each one with Copic markers.  I used liquid adhesive to to secure all the layers in place.  The fish leaping out of the waves was adhered to a strip of acetate with super strong glue dots.  I think these digital papers make the perfect sky and ocean elements for the scene on these cards.
I love these fancy folds and cute scene, so there are lots of photos to share ...
I hope the birthday girls like these as much as I do :)
~~~*~~~*~~~

Today I have used the Smile - Message pre-coloured digital stamp from Hetty Clare, one of our generous sponsors for this challenge, to make cute birthday card.

I opened the image in Silhouette Studio, sized to 4 1/2", combined two fonts to make the sentiment and printed on heavy smooth white cardstock.  I used a nesting circle die to cut the image panel and matted it with a contrasting circle and scalloped circle.  The weave cardstock colours used matched the brightest pink and darkest maroon from the flowers.  I matted an A5 top folding card with a pretty pink cardstock.  I used a border punch to make some contrasting scalloped strips to adhere to the top and bottom of the card front then secured the matted image panel in place.  I made some flowers to embellish the layered panel by cropping a flower from the image panel in Silhouette Studio and printed it in assorted sizes.  I fussy cut the flowers then went around the edges with a Tuxedo black Memento Dual Tip marker.  I think I must have enjoyed my fussy-cutting time a little too much, as I have enough flowers to embellish a set of cards now.  I used a combination of liquid adhesive and foam circles to secure the fussy cut flowers in place.

Celebrate In Style

It's time for another challenge with us at the Southern Girls.

This fortnight Team Lou have created projects to inspire you for the new challenge

Our generous sponsors for this challenge are:

Auzz Trinklets N Crafts

Jenoviya Art Shop

~~~*~~~*~~~
Today I have used the Cute flower bud (image 38) digital stamp by Jenoviya Art Shop, one of our generous sponsors this fortnight, to make a fancy birthday card.
As soon as I saw this cute image, I remembered a cut file design in my stash that would work perfectly to conceal the top of the leg.  It's a new-to-me fancy fold that I have not made before.  I opened the image and cut file (details & link below) in Silhouette Studio, sized the image panel to fit on the main panel and created the sentiment (font details below).  I printed the image panel on X-Press It blending card, heat set, trimmed to size and coloured with Copic markers.  I cut the card base and layers using my Silhouette Cameo and adhered all the layers in place using liquid adhesive.  I adhered the image panel in place then used a hole punch to punch the holes to match the card base and ornate flap.  I adhered the flap down then added some ribbons and burlap string.  The only string in my stash was a pinkish purple, so I used the darkest purple Copic marker from the flowers on the image panel and coloured it for a perfect match.
The bow is a perfect match for the purple flowers in the image panel.
The sentiment was created using a combination of two different fonts.
I matted the back of the card before tying the ribbons.  This gives me plenty of room to write a message for the birthday girl.
I finished off the card by making a belly band embellished with a layered flower.  I punched four extra large and four large flowers from white cardstock and coloured them with Copic markers to match the flowers on the image panel.  The sparkling rhinestone in the middle of the flower started off clear, so I coloured it with the yellow/gold Copic markers used for the chain and accents in the image panel.
As always, the challenge is Anything Goes.
~~~*~~~*~~~

Today I have used the Mime (without flowers) digital stamp from the Paris Cafe Digi Bundle from Stampers Delights, the generous sponsor for this challenge, to make card filled with love, flowers and fancy folds.

It's funny how a design comes to mind when you see an image and I could not stop thinking about the fancy folds of a centre step card, so I started by opening a cut file in Silhouette Studio.  I sized the image to fit on the front panel, added the sentiment (font details below), printed on X-Press It blending card, heat set, coloured with Copic markers and trimmed to size.  It sure takes a lot of markers to colour an image that is mainly white, black and red!

* I have never coloured a mime image before, so I did a little homework by looking in Pinterest.  The images I found were in endless combinations of white, black and red but along the way I saw THIS card.  Although I did not use the colour combination or design for inspiration, I thought the sentiment was perfect for these "troubling Covid-19 virus pandemic times", so I created one using a font from my electronic stash. *

I cut the card base and matting layers using my Silhouette Cameo, adhering them all in place using liquid adhesive.  I punched lots of different flowers, curled the petals and layered them together with liquid adhesive and finished each one off with a sparkling black rhinestone.

The card is 5 1/2" square when folded flat but has
lots of lovely dimension when open and standing on display.

These fancy folds look great, even from the side.
The pics below are small but if you want to see the detail in full screen, just click on the photo.
