Cupcake birthday wishes

This post is to share the blue balloon card I made for the new challenge on the

Today I have used the Jasper's Cupcake digital stamp from Digi Doodle Studios, one of our generous sponsors for this challenge to make some birthday cards.

You can read about red card HERE or by clicking on the photo below.

I opened the image in Silhouette Studio and placed it on an 8 1/4" x 4 1/4" panel.  I created the sentiment with flourishes to match the balloon string (font details and below) and layered it over the image.  I printed the image panel on a sheet of A4 X-Press It blending card, heat set, trimmed to size and coloured with Copic markers.  There were some slight gaps between the flourishes between the words of the sentiment and where I joined it to the balloon string, so I carefully filled them in with a 0.03 black Multiliner.  If you click on the image below, you will see the gaps, yes, they're small, but once you know they're there, you just can't ignore them.

I used heavy smooth white cardstock, a scoreboard and bone folder to make card bases and liquid adhesive to secure the image panels in place.

Here is Jasper with his blue balloon.

Looks can be deceiving ...
... this card is a huge 8 1/4" wide and the sentiment is very long.

As soon as I saw this cute image I knew that I needed to attach a long sentiment to the balloon string, so I opened up the image in Silhouette Studio and placed it on an 8 1/4" x 4 1/4" panel.  I went through my font collection and finally found one that had flourishes that went perfectly with the balloon string of the image (details and link below).  ... one crash course in glyphs later and I had my sentiment created and layered it over the image.  I printed two panels on a sheet of A4 X-Press It blending card, heat set, trimmed to size and coloured with Copic markers, trying different combos on each panel.

Today I have used the Briar Berry Spry Fairy digital stamp from Digi Doodle Studios, our generous sponsor this month, to make a birthday card filled with magic.

This large A5 card started in Silhouette Studio, where I sized the image to 3 1/2" to fit inside a 4 3/8" nesting oval die.  I printed the image on X-Press It blending card, heat set, coloured with Copic markers then die cut.  I die cut a contrasting 4 3/4" scalloped stitched oval panel and adhered it to the back of the image panel.  I matted an A5 top folding card base with cardstock then added a panel of patterned paper.  Next I pulled out my iron, YES, my IRON, I know!  Do you remember what they are?  I ironed a strip of crochet lace as it was a bit bent on the spool.  I cut another contrasting panel of cardstock and adhered the lace to the top, then adhered the panel to the bottom of the card.  Next I adhered the matted image panel in place with a combination of foam squares and liquid adhesive.  I used a combination of squeeze and lever punches to punch bundles of flowers from coordinating cardstock, curling and layering them together, finishing each one off with a sparkling yellow rhinestone.  This is where I should mention that I have run out of yellow bling, luckily I still have some sparkling clear ones, so I coloured them with my Y38 Copic marker.  I used a combination of foam circles and liquid adhesive to adhere the flowers around the image panel.

It's an unusual colour combo to me but I am thrilled with how pretty they look together and I hope they make you feel happy too.

Lots of colours, textures, dimension and sparkle to add
some magic and make for an extra special birthday.

Today I have used the Ginger Spice Cocoa Mug digital stamp from Digi Doodle Studios, our generous sponsors this week, to make a cute and tasty Christmas card.

I printed the image on X-Press It blending card, heat set, colouring with Copic markers then die cut with a nesting circle die.  I cut a 5 3/4" panel of patterned paper, matted with white cardstock, timmed to 1/16" border, matted with green cardstock, trimmed to 3/16" border then adhered the panel to a card base.  I layered the image panel with an offset circle and doily, adhering the layers in place with liquid adhesive.  I finished the card off with a die cut sentiment, which I layered for extra dimension.
The finished card is 6 1/4" square.

Flying Penguins at Penny's

It's time for a new challenge with us on the
As always, the challenge is Anything Goes.

Digi Doodle Studios

~~~*~~~*~~~
Today I have used the Finley Penguin digital stamp from Digi Doodle Studios,
our generous sponsor for this challenge, to make cute Christmas card.
The card is A5, so it stands quite tall.
I decided to use a sketch to design my card (details below), so I opened the image in Silhouette Studio, sized the image to fit in a 3/4" circle die, printed on X-Press It blending card, die cut the circle then coloured with Copic markers.  I die cut a second black circle to adhere behind the image panel for some shadowy dimension.  I die cut some snowflakes, a flourish and sentiment from both white and black cardstock, adhering the black underneath each white piece.  Next I added Stardust Stickles to the trim on Finley's cap and on to each of the layered die cuts, then sprinkled them all with fine white glitter for extra sparkle.  I created an A5 top folding card base by scoring a heavy white cardstock panel then adhering the scored section to the back of the second A5 panel.  I matted the front of the card with pretty patterned paper then adhered the image panel and sparkling sentiment, snowflakes and flourish.
It was fiddly layering the die cuts and adding the glitter
but the sparkle was worth every second.
