MARS ATTACKS ... and it's a friendly invasion

I love the fancy folds of Box Cards and this space ship shaped
Alien Box Card cut file from My Scrap Chick is super cute.

I opened the cut file in Silhouette Studio and set up my pages so that I could cut a full set of panels to make a single spaceship.  I used it to cut ships from multiple colours of 12" x 12" cardstock.  I replicated sets of the alien body so that I could cut them all at once from green cardstock.  I did the same for the white domes and yellow lights.  I decided to add silver metallic cardstock to the front and back of the ship legs (so that they looked metallic from all sides) and silver metallic backing for the lights.  It worked out perfectly to cut out enough for six cards from a single A4 sheet of metallic cardstock.  Assembly was quite easy, especially with the video tutorial for instructions.  The only change I made to the design was backing the legs and adding googly eyes.

The card is quite large, with the backing panel measuring 6 1/4" wide, the height including the legs and antennae is almost 5" high.  It folds flat to just under 7 1/4" wide x just under 5" high.  It has a really smooth folding action and is works well regardless of whether it's folded to the left or right.

I created an internal offset from the backing panel so that I could make some print & cut sentiment panels to go on the back of each card ... so much nicer than my handwriting!

Enjoy the little things

Enjoy the little things . . .

My 5" x 7" card uses a digital image and sentiment from Beccy's Place.
I opened the "Simple Flower Bunch" image from the Simple Sentiments digital stamp set and the "Enjoy the little things" sentiment from the Narcissus digital stamp set and overlayed them together (inspired by Beccy's card HERE) to complete the design.  I printed the image panel on X-Press It Blending Card, coloured with Copic markers, trimmed to size, matted on textured cardstock, trimmed to size using a Perfect Layers Ruler, adhered on to a 5" x 7" panel, then adhered the panel to a top folding card base.  I made the card base by cutting two 5" x 7" 300gsm smooth cardstock panels,
scoring the "top back" at 3/4" then adhering the top panels together.

... of course there's more ... I made a second card, using this same "Simple Flower Bunch" image and style combined with the "love you" sentiment from the "Simple Sentiments" digital stamp set HERE

... and an even more CAS style card using the "love you" sentiment and "Simple Flower" image for the same "Simple Flower Bunch" digital stamp set HERE

Aloe love . . .

My card used two digital images and a sentiment from Beccy's Place.  I opened the "Little Aloe" and "Little Pot" images and "With love" sentiment from the "A Little Something" and assembled them together to complete the design.  I printed the image panel on X-Press It Blending Card, coloured with Copic markers, trimmed to size, matted on textured cardstock, trimmed using a Perfect Layers Ruler, adhered on to a brown panel, then adhered the panel to a top folding 5" x 6" card base and no, I don't know what happened, it was meant to be a 5" x 7" card but I must have been a bit over zealous when trimming the image panel down to size.  I made the card base from 300gsm smooth cardstock, adhering two panels at the top, with the back panel scored at 1" to allow the card to open and stand.

... needless to day ... I love this sentiment and image combo ...

My pair of slimline (3 1/2" x 8 1/2") cards use two digital images and a sentiment from Beccy's Place.  I opened the "Little Aloe" and "Little Pot" images and "With love" sentiment from the "A Little Something" and assembled them together to complete the design.  I printed the image panels on X-Press It Blending Card, coloured with Copic markers, trimmed to size, matted on textured cardstock, trimmed using a Perfect Layers Ruler, adhered on to 3 1/2" x 8 1/2" panels, then adhered the panels to top folding slimline card bases.  I made the card bases from 300gsm smooth cardstock.

... you may have already guessed, but I have to confess,
I love this sentiment and image combo ...
