. . . more sparkling Christmas stars

You might have already seen these cards in my earlier post.

These card use the Jingle Deer digital stamp from Miss Daisy Stamps,
one of our generous sponsors for
Challenge #136 - Add A Star with the Crafty Gals Corner,
to make a pair of A5 sparkling starry Christmas cards.

This post focusses on this card.

~~~*~~~*~~~
I printed the images on A5 X-Press It blending card, heat set, coloured with Copic markers, then fussy cut them out.  I went around the outer edges with a Tuxedo Black Memento Dual Tip Marker.
I added some vibrant red rhinestones to the holly berry areas on the image and sparkling clear Wink Of Stella sparkle to the bell. Once I had my cheery Jingle Deer, I needed to give them somewhere starry to go.
What better place than on top of a dimensional sparkling star.
The 3D star is a cut file (link below) that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo.  I cut several out using white textured cardstock, folded, painted with liquid adhesive then smothered with sparkling white glitter and left to dry.
The leafy circle flourish is a cut file (link below) that I cut using my Silhouette Cameo.  I cut two sets of the leafy circle flourishes using Cricket cardstock.  I curled the leaves for dimension, the bottom layers curled downwards, the top layer curled up and carefully layered each set together
I made the A5 card base by scoring a sheet of A4 cardstock in half, using my bone folder to make a crisp top fold.  I adhered a panel of pretty Christmas patterned paper to the base.  This was the last scrap left of one of my favourite patterned papers, luckily there was just enough to cover the card base.  The leafy circle flourishes were carefully adhered in place on the middle of the card front.  I put liquid adhesive under the circle and under the stem to the 3rd leaf on each side.  This allows the flourish to be secure and still allow the leaves to keep their dimension.
 I adhered the sparkling 3D star over the circle portion of the leafy circle flourish.
Lucky last was the super cute litte Jingle Deer on top of the star.  I adhered some cardstock behind the image then used a liquid adhesive to secure him in place, using pressure to flatten the top of the star just a bit, to give him more surface to sit flat and securely.
Doesn't this dear little deer make you smile?
The 3D star is a cut file (link belowthat I cut with my Silhouette Cameo.  I cut several out using white textured cardstock, folded, painted with liquid adhesive then smothered with sparkling white glitter and left to dry.  The bow is a die cut by Winnie & Walter.  I cut out the pieces from Crimson cardstock, used a small paint brush to curve the loops and tails then adhered with liquid adhesive.
The holly flourishes are a cut file (link below) that I cut using my Silhouette Cameo.  I duplicated the image and flipped it before cutting two sets of both versions, one in Splice cardstock, the other in darker Evergreen cardstock, both colours matching the pretty patterned paper on the card base.  I curled the flourishes for dimension and layered each set together then added some vibrant red rhinestones to the holly berry areas on the flourish.
I made the A5 card base by scoring a sheet of A4 cardstock in half, using my bone folder to make a crisp top fold.  I adhered a panel of pretty Christmas patterned paper to the base then adhered the sparkling 3D star to the middle of the card.  The holly flourishes and bows were adhered in place then the last piece was the super cute litte Jingle Deer on top of the star.  I adhered some cardstock behind the image then used a liquid adhesive to secure him in place, using pressure to flatten the top of the star just a bit, to give him more surface to sit flat and securely.
Today I have used the Pretty Petals 2 digital stamp from Miss Daisy Stamps,
one of our generous sponsors this week to make a centre easel card.
I printed the image several times on white textured cardstock, heat set,
coloured the centre of each flower, leaves and stems using Copic markers
cut one image panel into a circle then fussy cut the rest of the flowers.
I went around the edges of the fussy cut flowers with a tuxedo black marker.
This is my first time making a centre easel card, so I thought I would share some of the details:
  • 7" x 12" panel of cardstock scored at 6" so that the folded card is 7" wide x 6" tall
  • strips cut at 1 1/2" and 5 1/2" from the bottom edge to the top card fold,
    resulting in three panels 1 1/2", 4" and 1 1/2" wide
  • adhere the 1 1/2" strips to the card base
  • take the 4" x 6" centre panel and score across at 3"
  • mat each of the panels, including the inside one
  • cut the image panel into a circle 4 1/4" diameter
  • mat the image panel
  • adhere image panel to the upper edge of the lower middle panel,
    ensuring the circle in aligned evenly when the card is closed flat
  • adhere multiple layers of fussy cut flowers to the image panel for dimension
  • adhere fussy cut flowers to decorate the side panels
  • cut a sentiment panel 2" x 2 3/4" and mat same as front panels
  • adhere sentiment
  • the sentiment panel makes the wedge to hold folded front panel
    to make the centre easel fold card
I'm really please how these fancy folds turned out and have some more pics to share.
Challenge #113 - Polka Dots or Stripes
The sponsors for this challenge are:
Prize: The following 3 images
Lemon Shortbread
Prize: 3 Digital Images
~~~*~~~*~~

Today I have used the Cell Phone Cindy digital stamp from My Besties ( Etsy / Store )one of our generous sponsors this week.

My card has lots of dots, from Cindy's dress & shoes to the accent panel & black pearls.  It has lots of stripes too, hidden in the patterned paper of the background, a combination of white & yellow stripes and groovy striped arrows.

I printed Cindy on X-Press It Blending card and coloured the image with Copic markers.

I trimmed the panel down, matted it with black cardstock and assembled my card with matted patterned paper and a matted sentiment.  Each of the panels have a 1/16" black mat.

My card is 6 5/8" square.
Yes, I know it's an odd size but I really liked the patterned paper and decided to use it all.  It is from the Kaisercraft 6 1/2" Shine Bright paper pad.

The odd size meant that I had to join two pieces of cardstock to make the base.  I scored the back panel to make the top fold then adhered it to the front panel using strong book binding glue.

Crafty Gals Corner - Challenge #103 - Anything Goes - post 3 of 4

It's time for another challenge with us at the
This week we are letting our creative juices flow with
Challenge #103 Anything Goes
AND our
2nd Annual Blog Hop

We have lots of generous sponsors, lots of prizes and lots of creative inspiration to share for Challenge #103 at the Crafty Gals Corner this week.  This is the first of three projects I have to share today, so I hope you will check out the other projects I have created and all the fabulous projects created by the Crafty Gals Corner Design Team too.

Full details about the awesomeness of Challenge #103 with the Crafty Gals Corner, all of our generous sponsors & prizes, links for our Blog Hop & prizes and my giveaway can be found HERE.

Today I have used the Owl-Ways Party digital stamp from Miss Daisy Stamps,
one of our generous sponsors this week.

I printed two owls on an A5 sheet of X-Press It Blending card.
I coloured the owl using Copic markers (details below), fussy cut then went around the edges using my Memento Tuxedo Black Dual Tip marker.

The eyes were calling out to me, reminding me of the neglected bottle of Glossy Accents in my stash, so I carefully applied a very thick layer and left it to dry.  It is a slow process when the air is really humid like it has been here.

Once his eyes were dry, the party owl was ready for some cardmaking.

Our niece is having her birthday next week and I thought this cute party owl would make the perfect finishing touch to her card, with some cool Action Wobbler interaction making it FUN.  I confess, it is hard to resist tapping the owl and watch him dance like he's at a party!

The base of the card is an A5 top fold.
I enlarged a digital cut file (details & link below) to fit the card base (I had to trim a bit off the bottom of the card base), cut using my Silhouette Cameo, then applied double-sided foam tape to the back of each layer.  Next came a cool trick I learnt in cyberland (sorry, I can't remember who) - I took everything out of my MISTI, put the top layer face down inside, pushing it hard into a corner, peeled off the tape backing, then carefully aligned the 2nd layer into the same corner and adhered the layer in place.  It worked a treat.  I repeated this for the next layer, applied the blue background panel to the cardbase, then used the MISTI again, to align the card base to all the popped layers.

I took an Action Wobbler and adhered it to the smaller orange balloon (mostly hidden by the owl), trimming off the overhanging bits.  I adhered the balloon to the card, peeled off the backing of the Action Wobbler then secured the owl firmly in place.

Here is side view showing the Action Wobbler mechanism.

I know I said it before, but the wobbling action really is cool
the slightest touch and he is dancing!
