Today I have used the Daisies & LadyBugs digital stamp set from Fred She Said, one of our generous sponsors this week, to make some daisy filled Spring cards.
I have to confess that this is an absolutely fabulous set of images, both as digital stamps and pre-coloured images that can be combined together.  The pre-coloured images are a real bonus when your body doesn't let you colour, so I thoroughly enjoyed fussy cutting a field of flowers to make my cards.

My first card uses the beautiful pre-coloured image panel.
I printed the panel several times, using one layer to make the 5" x 7" card panel, the others were fussy cut.  I popped the fussy cut elements with foam and layered them together over the image panel to give lots of dimension.

Here are a couple of shots showing the dimension of the popped fussy cut layers.
If you click on the image you will be able to see more detail.

Next comes my field of daisies with a cheery "hello" to welcome Spring.

It's a pop up box card.
It has lots of dimension when open and folds flat for mailing.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the card base (details below), my Fiskars grass border punch to cut the grassy panels on the bridges on the inside of the card and my Sizzix Big Shot to cut the Paper Smooches "hello" die.  To cut a long story short, I opened the images and cut file on my Silhouette Studio design mat. enlarged the card base to 11 1/2", so that it would just fit on my cutting mat, then sized the pre-coloured images to fit each panel, printed on cardstock, cut the panels with my Cameo.  I printed extra images from the card panels so that I could fussy cut the layers and pop them in place with foam for extra dimension.  I also took the single daisy image, duplicated, then mirrored, then made multiple copies in a variety of sizes, so that I had a lot of different daisies to fill my card.  I got pretty distracted while cutting my daisies and ladybugs and ended up cutting enough for several cards, even after using all these here in the pop up box card.  I went around the edges of each piece with Memento Tuxedo Black Dual Tip marker to give them a neat finish, instead of showing the white core of the cardstock.  I needed support for the daisy stems and the acetate I use to make shaker cards is pretty flimsy, so I stretched my stash and trimmed the packaging from a pair of Big Shot cutting pads to make narrow strips.  I adhered the daisies to the acetate strips, so they were well supported to stand tall but still a little flexible to "float" around.  I made three "bridges" to go inside the card, punched a 12" strip of grass and trimmed it down to cover the front of each bridge and inside the front of the card.  I adhered a variety of daisies to each grassy strip then adhered them in place ... it was pretty fiddly but well worth the effort.  I die cut five of the "hello" words and layered them together before adhering to the front panel.

This fancy fold card folds flat for mailing.

As with my first card, the daisies and ladybugs on the flaps and back panel were layered with foam for extra dimension.  The sentiment really popped when the five layers with adhered together.

Here are some more photos of the open pop up box card
... the flowers and dimension make me feel happy :)

The patterned paper around the base makes it look like a basket filled with flowers.

my favourite colour today is blue - lots of blue sky and blue accents on the flowers ... when I look at my card it has touches of most colours of the rainbow, just missing violet, perhaps I should add a purple butterfly :)
(I confess,
it's usually green as it's part of nearly every project I make, it works perfectly with every colour of the rainbow ... and I could not resist adding four rows of neatly trimmed green grass to the middle of my card)

a rainbow of luck

Yes, there is a difference between Shamrocks and Clovers.
Here is a little of what I have found HERE in cyberland:
The word shamrock comes from the Gaelic word Seamrog, meaning “little clover”.  A clover is the commonly used name for any number of plants belonging to the genus Trifolium, meaning “having three leaves".  Even among botanists, there is some disagreement on what species is the “true” shamrock, but most agree that the White Clover is probably the original shamrock of Irish symbolic heritage.  While trying to convert the Irish into Christians, St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the holy trinity with each leaf representing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The three leaves of a shamrock are also said to stand for faith, hope and love.  A fourth leaf is where we get the luck from.  The four-leafed clover, or “lucky clover”, is an uncommon variation of the three-leafed clover, and widely considered to be a symbol of good luck.  Because they are a mutation, they are rare, and not found in the same abundance as the shamrock, and thus, considered lucky.  The traditional Irish symbol of a shamrock does not include the fourth leaf.

Today I have used the St. Patrick’s Day Mini Kit digital stamp set from Ike's Art, one of our generous sponsors this week, to make a two cards.
Lucky I did a bit of homework for these cards (see the italics at the top of this post).
The cute little bear has shamrocks on his paws and a bunch of shamrocks in his hat.
The round "good luck" card has a shamrock frame and the rainbow "Lucky" card has an ornate panel with four leaf clovers ... does that mean it's extra lucky?

This post is to focus on my second card, the ornate shamrock panel with the rainbow sentiment.

FULL details about BOTH cards can be found HERE

Today I have used the St. Patrick’s Day Mini Kit digital stamp set from Ike's Art, one of our generous sponsors this week, to make a two cards.

I opened the digital stamp set on my Silhouette Studio design mat.  I started by adding the hat to the cute stitched bear.  Next came two different cut files (details below), where I sized the image to fit inside the feature panel.  I used some different fonts to create my "good luck" and "Lucky to know you" sentiments.  I printed the image panels, cut using my Silhouette Cameo, heat set, then coloured with Copic markers.  I finished off the hat buckles with a luscious gold gel pen.  I made a 5" x 7" card base for the rainbow "Lucky to know you" card and used my Cameo to cut the layers for the round "good luck" card.  I used liquid adhesive to adhere the layers.

I matted the inside of the card by cutting an extra layer of the pale green layers then trimming off the top to fit under the top fold created when the two round panels were adhered together.

My second card is filled with a rainbow of luck.
I used Copic markers to colour the "Lucky" then finished it off by colouring one of the "negative" shamrocks from the ornate panel with Copic markers and adding it as an embellishment.

Flora and Fauna with Team Lou

It's time for another challenge with us at the Southern Girls.

This fortnight Team Lou have created projects to inspire you for the new challenge

Our generous sponsors for this challenge are:

Waffle Flower Stamps & Dies

~~~*~~~*~~~
Today I have used the Lacy Flower clear stamp by Waffle Flower Stamps and Dies, one of our generous sponsors this fortnight.  I've had this stamp set in my stash for a while now but I'm thrilled to report that it's still in stock in the Waffle Flower store (link below) and highly recommend the design and quality ... you might add it to your shopping cart if you're the lucky challenge winner.
I tried something new for me, colouring on Kraft.  I dusted the front panel of the card base with powder, then, using my MISTI, I stamped the largest Lacy Flower image and sentiment on a Kraft card base with Versamark watermark ink.  I smothered the stamping with embossing powder, shook off the excess then gently removed any stray granules before zapping it with my heat tool.  I always love watching the magic happen when embossing powder melts.
I gave the card a few minutes to cool down then coloured the segments of the image with Kaisercraft metallic gel pens.  These pens are so juicy and have such a luscious metallic shimmer and shine which looks even more decadent against the Kraft cardstock.
It's not very often that I stamp and colour directly on to a card base.  It was nice not to worry about layers or colours bleeding through.  Using the MISTI would make it quick and easy to make a bundle of these CAS cards to have ready and waiting for some "colouring therapy".
