Colour of Love - Prize ~ 3 Digital Images

Cute as a Button - Prize ~ 2 Digital Images

Morgan's Art World - Prize ~ 3 Digital Images used by the DT

~~~*~~~*~~~
Today I have used the delightful Checking the List Elf digital stamp from Cute As A Button, two of our generous sponsors this month, to make three cards.
~~~*~~~*~~~

My first card uses the Flower Petals digital stamp from Colour Of Love.

My card started on my Silhouette Studio design mat.  I opened the image and sized it to 3 3/8" x 4 3/8", printed on X-Press It blending card, heat set, coloured with Copic markers then trimmed to size.  I went around the edges of the image with a marker that was used to colour the background, so that there was no stark white peeking out when I started adding layers.  I used a sketch for the design (details and link below), cutting lots of panels to layer together.  I die cut some "twine and bows" to layer as an accent at the bottom of the image.  I used liquid adhesive to secure all the layers in place on a 6 3/16" card base ... yes, it's an odd size but I added more layers than I originally planned.  I used Copic markers to colour some sparkling rhinestones to match the dark cardstock.

Today I have used the Flower Cone digital stamp from Little Blue Button Stamps, one of our generous sponsors for this challenge, to make my cards.

I used a sketch for the design (details linked below), along with lots of markers, dies and pretty papers to make this 6 1/8" square card.  I printed the image on X-Press It blending card, heat set, die cut then coloured with Copic markers.  I coloured the background of the oval image panel with Copic marker E81 so that it coordinated with the lighter shades of the patterned paper, the white looked much to stark.  The different marker blends are listed below, along with the patterned papers and dies.  I matted the image panels with an oval die cut from contrasting cardstock.  I trimmed the background paper to 6" square and matted it with contrasting cardstock, trimming to 1/16" border using a Perfect Layers Ruler.  I took a coordinating panel of patterned paper from the pad, trimmed to 1 3/4" x 6", matting on cardstock and trimming the sides to give a 1/16" border, keeping the top and bottom flush, to match the background panel.  I die cut the "twine" and bows from textured cardstock.  I used liquid adhesive to adhere all the layers in place, adding some thin foam squares under the right-hand-side of the image panel to keep it flat against the base of the card and contrasting strip.  I adhered the card front to a heavy 6" square card base.

It's A Fair Dinkum Aussie Christmas

Yes, another eucalyptus card ...
remember, I told you that I love this image, this time it's for Christmas.

The Eucalyptus digital stamp is from Beccy's Place.
I opened the image and sentiment in Silhouette Studio, sized the image panel to 4" square, added the sentiment from the Aussie Wreath digital stamp set (also from Beccy's Place), printed on X-Press It blending card, heat set, trimmed to size then coloured with Copic markers.  The marker combinations are listed below and you might be interested in the unusual colours.  Eucalypts have fascinating strappy leaves, fabulous flowers with really cool caps and nuts.  The card base is heavy white cardstock, making a large 6 1/4" card.  I decided to use a sketch for this design (the sketch and link are below).  I cut a 6" square from white cardstock and matted it with red cardstock using my 1/16" Perfect Layers Ruler to make the base for the front of the card.  I matted the image panel the same way.  I die cut a white doily and contrasting 4" red circle, along with a red strip to make up the elements for the sketch.  The white contrasting ric rac was a "happy accident" as I was cutting some Halloween treat boxes last night with my Silhouette Cameo and the ric rac strip was part of the waste left behind.  Today, when assembling the pieces for my card, I thought the red strip looked a little stark and the white ric rac was soon adhered in place.  I used liquid adhesive to secure all the layers in place (details listed below).

At first I thought the image called for a CAS (Clean and Simple) design but the more I look at it, the more I think that this sketch works.  Our Christmas is a true contradiction, hot and summery with the eucalyptus trees in full bloom making real live Christmas Trees, mixed with the traditional fussy and fancy traditional family Christmas lunch, hot, rich with all the trimmings.

When I had finished my card, my husband came inside and handed me some nuts that had fallen from our bottlebrush tree.  He suggested that I should use them instead of sequins as a natural embellishment on my card.

What do you think, sequins or natural nuts?

~~~*~~~*~~~
Today I have used the Playing Under The Sea digital stamp from The Paper Shelter,
our generous sponsors this week, to make a big 7" x 7" birthday card.
I printed the image (with extra critters) on A5 X-Press It blending card, heat set then coloured with Copic markers.  Next came the fussy cutting.  I fussy cut the mermaid and a bundle of critters, finishing them off by running a Versafine onyx black dual tip marker around the edges.
I chose some pretty patterned paper from the Mermaid Tails paper pad by Kaisercraft, it was perfect for the mermaid image and has lots of lovely green shades, perfect for our challenge theme.
I matted the paper panel with two layers of green cardstock, adhering it to a top folding card base that I made by scoring a panel for the back, adhering the front panel along the scoreline to make the top fold.  I adhered the matted panel on to the card base then started decorating.  I made a faux shaker window by layering two rings (cut using nesting circle dies) to make a frame then filling it with sea critters, sparkling clear sequins and the beautiful mermaid.  I added dimension to the mermaid, green octopus and sentiment by popping them up with foam dots.
The sentiment was from the Mermaid Tails paper pad (a real bonus hidden at the back), I matted it with the same dark green cardstock for contrast, using a squeeze punch to round the corners.
I added some Wink Of Stella sparkle to the mermaid tail and sea critters.
I also used a clear and several different green glitter pens to add some extra detail & sparkle to the scales on the mermaid's tail.
and a couple more pics to share
