Dragonfly Hi

... my card says hello but the image is called Dragonfly Hi
It's a cute freebie (on FB group) by Createful Heart Digis & Designs.

This fancy fold is called a Shadow Box card and was made using a cut file with my Silhouette Cameo.  I opened the file in Silhouette Design Studio and placed the digital stamp on the back panel, printed it on pale blue textured cardstock, heat set, cut with my Cameo then started colouring.  I coloured the eye with a combination of white pencil and Copic markers.  The dragonfly and foliage were coloured with Copic markers.

Once the ink was dry, I added a delicate sparkle to the wings with my Wink Of Stella Clear Glitter Brush and a generous dollop of Glossy Accents to the eye to give it dimension and shine.
I'm thrilled with how the wings turned out.

I decorated around the image, inside and out, with layered die cut foliage.

The cool thing about these fancy folds is that the card folds flat for mailing.

  4. When you say you heat set it, do you mean emboss? Just curious. I am still kind of struggling printing digi stamps. Love your card design. Love the details on the dragonfly. Thanks for sharing your creation with us @ Incy Wincy Designs Friends Forever Challenge. Good luck!-Maria Giselle B.

No, not embossing, when I heat set the image it means that I have zapped it with my heat tool. I do that even when using laser / toner printer. I find that even if I use the laser printer on X-Press It blending card, I still get toner bleed with my Copic markers and heat setting has eliminated that problem for me. This card was a real change for me, as I printed it on textured cardstock using an inkjet printer, so heat setting was doubly important.
I will try to leave a message for you on your blog and wish you luck with your colouring!

    2. Thank you, Tracy for responding to my question and posting your answer on my blog. I own an inkjet printer. I notice the bleeding that is why I print the images on a laser printer now. Do I still zap the images with the heat gun even if I've printed the images for a while? I hope you don't get tired with my questions.-Maria Giselle

    3. It is a pleasure to answer your questions Maria Giselle :)
Yes, I still heat set my images when using the laser printer. I didn't have a problem when I was getting the images printed at Officeworks but when we got a laser printer of our own, I still got toner bleed, especially with images that had larger areas of toner. I have found that it is a habit now to heat set them all and I not experienced any problems since, especially when colouring faces ... I'm shaking my head remembering the nightmare it was when colouring skin and smiling happily to have found a solution that works.
      Good Luck with your colouring!
