Winter flamingos for warm Christmas wishes

It's time for another challenge with us at the Southern Girls.

This fortnight Team Lou have created projects to inspire you for the new challenge

Our generous sponsor for this challenge are:

Today I have used the Winter Flamingos digital stamp by Sasayaki Glitterone of our generous sponsors this fortnight, to make a pair of A5 top folding Christmas cards.

Two of our nieces each have a precious daughter and I thought that this trio of flamingos would make a super cute Christmas card for their families of three.  We recently found out that one of the nieces is expecting twins in the New Year, so I added two little eggs, with the little girl looking down at the babies coming soon.

This post is to focus on the card with the big, bold stripes.

I started by planning my card on my Silhouette Cameo design mat, sizing the oval and image to fit on an A5 top folding card base.  Then I sized some leaves to embellish it.

I adhered the A5 card base to the sheet of patterned paper,
trimming off the edges for a perfect fit.

I printed the image on X-Press It blending card, heat set and coloured with Copic markers.  I cut the oval frame and a backing piece the same size for the image panel with my Cameo.  I have to confess that I fussy cut the image panel as I am having all sorts of trouble getting my Cameo to do print & cut with the X-Press It blending card ... it must be a bit shiny.  I adhered the image panel to the black oval, ensuring that there was nothing sticking out the edges from my fussy cutting, went around the edges with a black marker, then added the top oval frame.

I cut the sentiment banner on my craft mat and added the die cut sentiment.  Turns out my sizing wasn't quite right for the die cut alphas, so I had to put them a bit wonky to fit.  I hope that it makes it look a bit more merry ... still debating on putting a longer strip on top with the sentiment not so squishy.

I cut some tropical leaves in two sizes from four different green cardstock sheets with my Cameo, curled for dimension, layering them together to help frame the image.

Here are a couple more pics,
