Shamrocks and Clover . . . Oh My!

It's time for another challenge with us at the

This week we are letting our creative juices flow with
Yes, there is a difference between Shamrocks and Clovers.
Here is a little of what I have found HERE in cyberland:
The word shamrock comes from the Gaelic word Seamrog, meaning “little clover”.  A clover is the commonly used name for any number of plants belonging to the genus Trifolium, meaning “having three leaves”.  Even among botanists, there is some disagreement on what species is the “true” shamrock, but most agree that the White Clover is probably the original shamrock of Irish symbolic heritage.  While trying to convert the Irish into Christians, St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the holy trinity with each leaf representing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The three leaves of a shamrock are also said to stand for faith, hope and love.  A fourth leaf is where we get the luck from.  The four-leafed clover, or “lucky clover”, is an uncommon variation of the three-leafed clover, and widely considered to be a symbol of good luck.  Because they are a mutation, they are rare, and not found in the same abundance as the shamrock, and thus, considered lucky.  The traditional Irish symbol of a shamrock does not include the fourth leaf.

Today I have used the St. Patrick’s Day Mini Kit digital stamp set from Ike's Art, one of our generous sponsors this week, to make a two cards.

I opened the digital stamp set on my Silhouette Studio design mat.  I started by adding the hat to the cute stitched bear.  Next came two different cut files (details below), where I sized the image to fit inside the feature panel.  I used some different fonts to create my "good luck" and "Lucky to know you" sentiments.  I printed the image panels, cut using my Silhouette Cameo, heat set, then coloured with Copic markers.  I finished off the hat buckles with a luscious gold gel pen.  I made a 5" x 7" card base for the rainbow "Lucky to know you" card and used my Cameo to cut the layers for the round "good luck" card.  I used liquid adhesive to adhere the layers.

Lucky I did a bit of homework for these cards (see the italics at the top of this post).
The cute little bear has shamrocks on his paws and a bunch of shamrocks in his hat.

The round "good luck" card has a shamrock frame and the rainbow "Lucky" card has an ornate panel with four leaf clovers ... does that mean it's extra lucky?

I matted the inside of the card by cutting an extra layer of the pale green layers then trimming off the top to fit under the top fold created when the two round panels were adhered together.

My second card is filled with a rainbow of luck.
I used Copic markers to colour the "Lucky" then finished it off by colouring one of the "negative" shamrocks from the ornate panel with Copic markers and adding it as an embellishment.

NOW it's YOUR turn!
