Today I have used the Captain Gneng digital stamp from Dr Digi, one of our generous sponsors this week, to make an out-of-this-world birthday card.

I started by opening the image in Silhouette Studio, then traced the image so that I could add him to the cosmic background.  I sized the image and background to make a A5 sized card front, with the Captain standing 3 1/2" tall.  I added the sentiment by combining two fonts (Arial & PN Swishy Kool, links below), making them a pale grey so that they worked well against the patterned background.  I printed the panel on X-Press It blending card and heat set in preparation for colouring.

This alien is super cute and while I was deciding on the colours, my husband said he needed to be in high-vis orange, so out came the darkest orange Copic markers in my stash.  I confess that they're colours that I don't use very often and I was thrilled with how vibrant they turned out.

Once the colouring was complete, I added a touch of clear Wink Of Stella sparkle to the helmet and metallic elements on the image.  I adhered the image panel to an A5 card base then started to embellish the scene with a combination of chunky and micro fine glitters by sprinkling them over liquid adhesive.  When making the planet, I started with chunky black glitter then filled the gaps with micro fine glitter, leaving no gaps and no exposed adhesive.  The background had amazing "cosmic" detail, so I used this as a guide for adding sparkling clear, sapphire and onyx black micro fine glitter accents ... I wish that I could take a photo that shows what it looks like in person.

NOW it's YOUR turn!

I hope that I have inspired you to get creative
