Spring Showers with Team Lou

It's time for another challenge with us at the Southern Girls.

This fortnight Team Lou have created projects to inspire you for the new challenge

Our generous sponsors for this challenge are

Today I have used the Daylily Romantique Umbrella digital stamp by Colour Of Love (Featuring The Art Of Heather Valentin, formerly Lacy Sunshine), one of our generous sponsors this fortnight.
Nothing says Spring Showers more than umbrellas, raindrops and pretty flowers, so this image ticks all the right boxes for my Thinking Of You card for our challenge theme.

I sized the image, added a sentiment (font details below), printed the image on X-Press It blending card, heat set, trimmed down to size (3 1/4" x 5 1/4") and coloured with Copic markers.  I matted the image panel on smooth black cardstock (I smothered the cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink to make it blacker) and used my Perfect Layers Ruler to trim it down to give a 1/16" border around the image panel.  I adhered the matted image panel on a 5" x 7" card base using liquid adhesive.  Lucky last came the new-to-me Nuvo Crystals Drops.  I used them to add some dimension and shine to the raindrops on the image panel.

I know I will be using these magical drops again soon,
they really are lovely, adding delicate dimension and shine.

MORE elegant cornflowers with the Crafty Gals Corner

This post is to share the second Cornflowers card I have made for

at the

You can read all about the challenge HERE.

~~~*~~~*~~~
Today I have used the Cornflowers - image no 187 digital stamp from SheepSki Designs, one of our generous sponsors this week, combined it with dry embossing to make a pair of birthday cards.
I remember our garden being filled with cornflowers as a child and wanted to do this beautiful image justice, so I did a little homework.  To start with, I was delighted by the card Andrea Norris (SheepSki Designs) shared to inspire us HERE.  Then I looked for more inspiration, setting up a Pinterest board HERE with "real" flowers, painted flowers and some Copic marker combinations that I thought would work.
My cards are 5" x 7" and because the image is so beautiful,
I used a CAS design with dry embossing frame each one.
As you can see, I decided on two Copic marker colour combinations.
I opened the image in Silhouette Studio, sized to fit on 5" x 7" panels, added a sentiment, printed on X-Press It blending card, heat set, trimmed to size then coloured with Copic markers.
Here is the "light" version of my Cornflowers.
I pulled out one of my first crafting tools (Fiskars ScrapBoss) and used it with a stencil to emboss an ornate frame around the image.  I adhered the image panel on to a top folding 5" x 7" card base I made from heavy white cardstock.
Here are some more pics.  If you would like to see more detail,
just click on the image and it will go to full screen.
Here is my other card.
The cornflowers are much darker and I have added score lines.
