OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD Christmas wishes

It's time for another challenge with us at the
Crafty Gals Corner

This week we are letting our creative juices flow with

Challenge #184 - CAS
[ Clean And Simple ]

Today I have used the X Files Xmas digital stamp from Dr Digi'sone of our generous sponsors this week, to make some CAS Christmas cards.  I printed the image and sentiment on X-Press It blending card, heat set, coloured with Copic markers, trimmed and then assembled.
Yes, I know it's only January ... the perfect time to get an early start!

Full details about my cards can be found HERE.

This post is to focus on the portrait version of my CAS alien Christmas card.

PS - sorry for all the mix of black and orange text ... I have tried and tried to change it to be all black but it keeps doing what it likes, changing the mix every time I edit and update ... confused sigh ...

With Deepest Sympathy

Sadly we needed a little too many sympathy cards during 2018.
It's always harder to make them when you need them, so I plan on making some to have ready and waiting in my stash.

This CAS card uses the "Simple Lily" digital stamp from the Keeping It Simple Set
from Beccy's Place and a digital sentiment (details and links below).

I opened the lily image and sentiment in Silhouette Studio and sized them to fit on an A5 panel, printed on X-Press It blending card, heat set, then coloured with Copic markers.  I adhered the panel to an A5 top folding card base and the card was done.

We have these lilies growing in our garden and there is a "glow" in the middle of the flower, so of course I had to add a touch of my lightest yellow-green Copic marker.
It's pretty delicate, so I'm not sure if you can see it...

Interesting fact:
The white outer part of the lily is not the flower, it is a petal-like spathe and

the yellow stalk in the middle is the spadix, which are the plant's true flowers.

These lilies are so elegant, perfect for sending heartfelt sympathy.

Making it SPARKLE at the Crafty Gals Corner

Today I have used the Flower Tag 5 digital stamp from Morgan's ArtWorld,
one of our generous sponsors this week, to make a sparkly card.

I opened the image in Silhouette Studio, along with an ornate frame cut file (details below) and sized them both to fit each other on an A5 panel.  I printed the image on X-Press It blending card, heat set, coloured with Copic markers, adding a touch of Wink Of Stella sparkle to the frame to make it look like it was silver.  Next came even more sparkle.  I cut the ornate frame with my Cameo, painted it with liquid adhesive then smothered it with luscious black glitter ... and despite my best efforts, I have to confess that our house now sparkles too!  I scored an A4 sheet of heavy smooth cardstock, trimmed to size then adhered the image panel and frame in place to complete my card filled with sparkle and love.

I was so nervous when I went to stamp the sentiment, I stupidly waiting until after I had coloured it.  I knew it was going to be a tight fit but apart from loving the words, I thought font went perfectly with the fabulous flowers.  Luckily the flourishes fitted in nicely between the stamens.

PS - I have another confession ... this was my 3rd attempt at making this card
I had almost finished colouring the image panel, got a cramp in my hand, dropped my marker and ended up with a big line of YR09 across it.  No amount of colourless blender was able to get that graffiti out!  While I was colouring the 2nd image panel, adding the deepest red-orange accents to the petals and ... you guessed it, a giant blob of R08 flooded out.  Why did I get out of the habit of taking the caps of both ends?  Lesson learnt, 3rd attempt was done in short stints with both caps off while colouring, luckily there were no more cramps and no more inky floods.

ORANGE Scandinavian Flowers . . . with Neat & Tangled and the Southern Girls Challenge

It's time for another challenge with us at the Southern Girls.

This fortnight Team Lou have created projects to inspire you for the new challenge
Anything Goes with Team Lou

Our generous sponsors for this challenge are:

to make a pair of CAS cards.

This post is to focus on my orange card using the
Scandinavian Flowers clear stamps from Neat and Tangled

I had lots of inky fun with the Scandinavian Flowers clear stamps from Neat and Tangled and my MISTI.  Using "Copic friendly" Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I repeat stamped one of the flourished leaf stamps, added the flowers to make a delicate floral "sun" then stamped the sentiment.  I coloured the flowers and leaves with Copic markers (details below) then adhered the image panel to a card base to make a pair of pretty CAS cards.  The cards are 6 1/8" square.

Don't you think the sentiment is delightful?
In case you can't read it clearly, it says
" TRUE FRIENDS ARE LIKE THE SUN.
THEY ALWAYS SHINE. "
... that's what inspired me to stamp my pair of floral suns.

Separate to making this card for the Southern Girls Challenge, I was also challenged to make matching envelopes, so I pulled my stamps out for another workout.  I wasn't sure how things would go colouring an envelope, so I decided to stamp three.  I inserted a panel of cardstock inside each envelope to ensure that no ink could bleed through to the back.  As you can see, thinks didn't go so well with my first attempt ... the YR61 must have been a bit juicy!

So instead of going light through dark then back through light with my Copic blending, I started with dark and went to light without making things too wet.  It didn't blend as well as I would like but I have to confess, it does look nice having a matching envelope and was well worth the effort.  What do you think?
