More Lotus Flowers . . .

No, you're not seeing things, I shared THIS pair of lotus cards last week.

These new cards are the "same-but-different",
with the lotus image mirrored to give a different look.

My lovely lotus flower cards combine the Lotus Flower pre-coloured digital stamp from the Hello Lovely digital stamp set from the Beccy's Place Store with the "Beautiful Day" digital sentiment from the same stamp set.  I mirrored the lotus image then sized the image and sentiment to fit on a 5.5" square panel, printed on smooth white 300gsm Letter sized cardstock, making it easy to score and trim to create a 5.5" top folding card.

I added some ripples of water around the Lotus image to anchor the flower and leaf stems to the card.  Although the cardstock is NOT “alcohol-ink-friendly”,
the Copic markers blended quite nicely, giving a watercolour effect.
The markers I used were BG70, BG72 and BG75.

The ink bleeds randomly, so no matter how hard you try,
no two are ever the same.

As mentioned earlier, these cards are the same-but-different.
My first cards used the Lotus Flowers image straight from the stamp set,
with the image to the right, the sentiment to the left.
For my second pair of cards I have mirrored the Lotus Flowers image,
with the image to the left of the card, the sentiment to the right.

There's a Wren in the Mirror . . .

No, you're not seeing things, I shared a wren card earlier today.

This new card is the "same-but-different", with the wren image mirrored
to give a different look.  You have got to love how digital stamps
make changes like these so quick and easy.

Funny how images and words trigger memories ... on one visit to my parents' place, a vibrantly coloured male wren took an intense dislike to the equally vibrant male he saw in our car mirrors.  It was exhausting watching the one-sided battle, so we quickly covered the mirrors to bring peace to Wrenland.

Anyway, enough of my trip down memory lane, let's get creative.
My card combines the Superb Fairy Wren pre-coloured digital stamp from the Superb Fairy Wren digital stamp set from the Beccy's Place Store with the "a happy hello" digital sentiment from the Limited Edition digital stamp set, also from Beccy's Place.  I sized the image-sentiment to fit on a 3.8" square panel and mirrored it, so that the wren was facing left instead of right, same-but-different.  I printed on smooth white cardstock then added some more shadow to anchor the wren to the card with Warm Grey W0-W1-W3 Copic Markers.

Next came a touch of Wink of Stella sparkle to the blue feathers on the wren,
as you move the card around, there is a flash of vibrant blue sparkle,
just like the wrens that visit with my Mum when she sits in the garden.

Here is the same card, the Wink of Stella clear glitter has been applied but
the light is not capturing the shimmering sparkle, just an odd spec of sparkle.

I trimmed the image panel, matted with black cardstock and trimmed to a 1/16" border with a Perfect Layers Ruler, matted the layered panel Marine cardstock and trimmed to a 1/8" border, then added the panel to a 5 1/2" square top folding card base made from the same smooth white cardstock.

In the pic below, you can see that I put the 3/16" edge of the Perfect Layers Ruler against the edge of the image panel, giving a 1/8" Marine blue border.

As I look at the card now, I'm thinking that I might
add some pretty black pearls or sparkling gems.

Add them or stick with "less is more"?
