Day 18 - P is for Pretty Pastel Pinwheel Card

It's time for the 12th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.
You can read the rules HERE or head over to Beccy's Challenges and enter HERE.

Beccy's inspiration is a delightful presents card HERE

My "P" is a Pretty Pastel Pinwheel Card

My fancy fold card was inspired by THIS card by Leslie Turner on her Love To Scrap 2 blog.  Her card was inspired by THIS tutorial and video HERE by Debbie Henderson on the Splitcoast Stampers site.  I designed the card base and panels in Silhouette Studio using the dimensions from the tutorial.
It's nice to be learning more about SVGs and how to use Silhouette Studio.
I decorated the panels with several elements from the Jingle Bell digital stamp set from Beccy’s Place, including the Paper White digital Paper, the Bell Lower Corner pre-coloured digital stamp, the Single Bell pre-coloured digital stamp and the Merry Little Christmas digital sentiment.  I printed, cut then assembled the layers and fancy folds.

The card has so many fancy folds, it's fun to look at in every direction.

The pinwheel folds flat for mailing,
with the flat card being standard A2 size, 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".

... I will need to make modifications to the pretty pastel pinwheel,
my husband has suggested that I add more different panels to make
it more interesting as you flip the folds and I think he's right.

Day 14 - M is for Modern Merry Christmas

It's time for the 12th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.
You can read the rules HERE or head over to Beccy's Challenges and enter HERE.

Beccy's inspiration is a delightful pair of Merry cards HERE

My "M" is for Modern Merry Christmas Cards,
Merry red and green colour combo,
Modern, non-traditional design,
filled with a Merry little sentiment inside.

These are not the first modern style cards like these that I have made.
I shared my Non-Traditional Christmas Cards HERE.

It's time for the Traditional Christmas card colours of red and green, with a Twist in the form of a modern, non-traditional, Christmas card design.  My cards started as a Folded Card With Bow cut file in Silhouette Studio and soon become a bundle of pretty pieces waiting to be assembled.  I started with the bow, curling the layers before adhering then curling again before forming and adhering the pieces together.  NOTE-to-self: do NOT glue ribbon layers together, just adhere at middle and ends otherwise it is near impossible to curl the sides enough to form the bow - don't ask me how I know.  Next came the delicate flourishes, which I adhered in place carefully with fine tip tweezers.  All the pieces were soon adhered in place but I planned for a little "more" to make them look more "Christmassy".  You may have seen a lot of crafters making clip on faux leather hair bows with poinsettias in the middle, so that's what I did, I made some poinsettias.  I cut some layered poinsettia flowers (full details below) from textured cardstock, curled the petals and leaves, added a bit of foam dot pop along with a touch of orange rhinestone bling.  I secured the poinsettias to the middle of each bow and I thought the cards were finished ... I decided they needed a sentiment panel inside, so I went to one of my favourite digital sentiments from Beccy’s Place.  Yes, you guessed it, it's "Have yourself a Merry little Christmas" from the Christmas Blooms digital stamp set from Beccy’s Place.  I created a panel to go inside the cards, added the sentiment and sent it to print N cut.  As soon as they were adhered in place, my cards were ready and waiting for me to write a special message.

Let's check out the Non-Traditional and Modern Merry cards together.

It looks like I'm going to have to hand deliver these cards.

Day 17 - O is for "O-T-E"

It's time for the 12th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.
You can read the rules HERE or head over to Beccy's Challenges and enter HERE.

Beccy's inspiration is two elegant cards with a goose nestled
amongst green and red Christmas ornaments HERE

My "O" is for "O-T-E"
... an Opportunity-To-Embellish.

You can't deny it, we've all been there, we've been happily crafting away, mistakes happen, things go wrong, you think your project is wrecked, you stand back,
have a little ponder and, YAY, you have found a way to save the day,
an O-T-E, an Opportunity-To-Embellish.

My O-T-E was such a rookie mistake, such a sad, sad, tale.
I was concentrating so hard on adding the tiniest of dots of adhesive to my ultra delicate sentiment strip that I adhered it upside-down on the top of the card ... shaking my head, I have never done such a silly oops before ... OK, let's say not for a long time.  Of course the liquid adhesive decided to dry super fast and bits of the white cardstock peeled off the card front and it looked dreadful.  All was not lost.  I haven't used my Stickles for a while and I thought, hmm, a bit of glitter might hide my self inflicted mess, so I smothered the entire frame of the card front with Stardust Stickles,
then, to tie it in with my background, I added them to the falling snow too.
My Opportunity-To-Embellish made my card even better than I planned.

Now that I have explained my "O-T-E",
I suppose I should share some details about my card.
This is my third card using this cardinal card cut file (full details below).
Here are my first and second Cardinal Christmas Cards.

I adjusted the cut file size from 4" x 9" to 3 1/2" x 8 1/4",
making it a slightly short slimline card.
Instead of cutting the card base with the cut detail on the front as one piece, I converted it to be a cut card front.  I made a shorter slimline card base from 300gsm smooth cardstock, making the card much sturdier than it would have been if cut from textured cardstock.  I cut the tree panel, cardinals and matting layer from textured cardstock and layered on to the card base.  Using the same red cardstock as the cardinals, I cut a sentiment strip to adhere across the bottom of the card.  This is when my O-T-E happened.  I carefully peeled the sentiment strip from across the top of my card, framed the card front with Stardust Stickles, added random white gel pen
snow flurries to the background and topped them off with Stardust Stickles.
Lucky last came the sentiment strip, which as carefully
adhered in place across the BOTTOM of the card.
Happy Ending :)

It's hard to capture the luscious sparkle in a photo.

Day 16 - N is for Non-Traditional

It's time for the 12th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.

You can read the rules HERE or head over to Beccy's Challenges and enter HERE.

Beccy's inspiration is a magical Northern Lights Night sky card HERE

My "N" is for Non-Traditional,
Non-Traditional Christmas colours and
Non-Traditional modern Christmas card design.

It's time for the non-traditional Christmas card colours of aqua and pink, with a non-traditional modern Christmas card design.

Day 3 - C is for Cheery Christmas Cardinals

It's time for the 12th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.
You can read the rules HERE or head over to Beccy's Challenges and enter HERE.

Beccy's inspiration is a set of Candy Cane cards HERE

My C is for Cardinals,
a trio of Cheery Christmas Cardinals.

No, you're not seeing things, I made a cardinal card HERE,
my new card has a Crimson sentiment and falling snow accents.

Using Silhouette Studio, I opened the cut file for the cardinal card (full details below).  I soon realised what the #10 meant, it was #10 size, which is 4" wide x 9 1/4" high, just a little too big.  I adjusted the card to be 3 1/2" wide, the standard slimline size.  With the scaling, it meant the card was a bit shorter than slimline at 8 1/4" high, which works well for me, as I have bundles of slimline envelopes ready and waiting to be filled. Using the same red cardstock, I cut a sentiment strip to adhere across the bottom of the card.  The card was finished off with random white gel pen snow flurries.
