B is for Bling Baubles

It's time for the 11th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.

B is for Bling Baubles

As with the card I made HERE (B is for Baubles), I opened the “Tree Baubles” pre-coloured digital image (from the “Tell It To The Trees” digital stamp set from Beccy’s Place) in Silhouette Studio and sized the image to make a 5” x 7” card.  I added the “Twinkly Christmas” digital sentiment (from the Merle digital stamp set by Beccy’s Place).  I printed then manually cut the image panel, matted using my Perfect Layers Ruler, then adhered to a 5” x 7” card base.  I finished off the card by adding an ULTRA sparkle to the tree baubles with Stickles.  I confess, I picked up the wrong bottle, I had intended to use my usual Stardust Stickles.  The Diamond Stickles have a more “holographic” sparkle (instead of the crystal sparkle of Stardust), so there is a lot more colour showing up in the tree baubles but the tones work perfectly together.

The range of colours in the sparkling Bling Baubles is amazing,
please click on the images below to see the sparkle and colours.
Every time the card is moved, the colours change,
which is perfect for this magical time of year!

It's hard to capture the subtle sparkle, if you click on the images below
you should be able to see the twinkle and shine.

PS - I tried a new style of made-by-me top folding 5" x 7" card bases.  The front panel is cut longer, scored and glued over the top of the back of the back panel (... try saying that fast three times).  Anyway, it was much quicker and easier than the way I have been making them and I'm giving it a go for now, we'll see if they small ridge on the back causes any problems going through the post, fingers crossed they all arrive safely and don't get chewed up in an automatic mail sorting machine!

A is also for ADVENT

A is for ADVENT

I opened the Christmas Countdown Cubes cut file (free from Craft With Sarah) in Silhouette Studio and set up all the score lines and colours for cutting.  I did make a change before cutting, I used one of my favourite fonts (Sweetie Pie) to create new numbers for the sides of each cube.  Once cut, I folded all the scorelines inwards, burnishing with a bone folder for a crisp fold.  Before assembly, I adhered the numbers as per Sarah’s guide, so that all the right combinations will work for each day, I didn’t want to get things mixed up after it was assembled.  Also, it's much easier to adhere things in place on a solid flat surface.  No, in case you were worried, there are no numbers missing, the number “6” doubles as a “9” when needed.

I followed the instructions for assembling the base then popped the layered title panel in place with foam squares.  As for the number cubes, I want to add an activity/treat to each day, so I left one of the sides with tabs open, like a gift box, not glued together as a “solid” cube.  I found that they were a little short to stay tucked in neatly, to I grabbed some bits of matching cardstock from my "scraps-for-later" stash and there were some pieces with a nice curve that I trimmed to fit.  I glued them on the the outside of the tab so that it made it even a more snug fit to stay closed.  I may make a half circle notch with my round squeeze punch (or put a little ribbon tab there) to make it a little easier to open.

Some festive fun for everyone.

NOTE: I'm trying to use a design from Beccy's Place for the prompt each day.
This project doesn't include any BUT I shared some
"A" cards earlier that use a Beccy's Place digital stamp.

I have entered my ADVENT in the
11th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place

A is for an Animal with Antlers

It's time for the 11th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.

Day 1 - A
A is for an Animal with Antlers
with the Added bonus of using the Antelope Island font

I started by opening the Rudolph Reindeer Card cut file from Simply Crafty svgs in Silhouette Studio.  The original card design is for a 4.25" wide x 5.5" high card, so I changed it to be 5.5” square because I like making top fold cards.  The sentiment went a bit wonky when I changed the sizing, so I added my own sentiment and instead of making it as a print N cut, I cut out the letters and made them pop by adding a black panel behind them before matting with the other sentiment panel layers.  My very own "HO HO HO" sentiment uses the Antelope Island font, an added bonus for the "A" prompt.

I used the front panel and made a matching matting panel for inside by deleting the reindeer cut-out elements.  I added the “Merry Christmas” sentiment from the Tied Up With String digital stamp set from Beccy’s Place, printed the panel then cut the fancy shaped sentiment panel for inside the card using my Silhouette Cameo.

After I glued all the layers of the card together, I finished it off by adding bronze bling to the card front corners and to the end of sentiment strip.

Pretty inside and out.
