Sparkling birthday wishes

My original plan was to include a rose and some leaves on top of the vellum panel with the sentiment but when it came to adhering everything in place it looked too fussy and luckily there just wasn't enough room for them all, even though I had made the base slightly larger than normal (5 1/2" x 7 1/2") .

The golden sparkle really pops with the black inlay of the leaves.
To keep this card nice and flat for mailing, I adhered the vellum layer with tiny dots of adhesive behind the sentiments.

Here is a photo showing just the leafy panel ... it was a struggle to cover any of it.  You would NOT believe the challenge I had with the random placement of the leaves, I usually have a tight grip on my ruler!!!  It took me longer to place them than it did to die cut them all.

Ingredients:
American Crafts - Gold Glitter Paper
American Crafts - Textured Cardstock

There are lots of fabulous projects shared each day this week and we have been challenged to create a new project inspired in some way by them.
I was inspired by:
- the leafy background & vellum layer of Shay's card from Day 1
- the leafy background of Lydia's card from Day 3... the Winnie & Walter Cover Model - The Leaf Effect Cutaway
is on my wishlist, I'm sure you can see why :)
- the vellum panel with overlaying diecut sentiment of Gayatri's card from Day 4
- the leafy background, diecut sentiment & vellum panel of Gayatri's card from Day 4

PINK Christmas wishes

It's never too early to get started on your Christmas cards and I'm hoping to get some made every month or two so that I avoid the usual last minute rush.

The paper has a delicate embossed leafy pattern with a subtle shine and texture.

I will be giving this card to one of our nieces in person, so I went all out with the dimension.  I cut a sheet of foam into tiny squares and adhered them to the back of the wreath layers (not the vellum ones) using Tombow Mono Multi.  The extra dimension allowed plenty of room for the curled leaves.

Don't you just adore the bow?  It only arrived a few days ago and I am already in love with it.  I popped it in place with four squares of pink foam sheet.
I finished it off with a few sparkling sequins.  ... the placement for the ones on the left was chosen for me, as I could see a spot of adhesive shining through the vellum and the sequin covered it perfectly.

Ingredients:
Kaisercraft - Summer Breeze 6 1/2" Paper Pad
Kaisercraft - Weave Cardstock
Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Adhesive

Guest Designer - Grace Murphy

Please welcome Grace Murphy as Guest Designer to my blog today.

Grace is a very talented 13 year old girl
and I am her very proud Aunt.

We had a great time creating together on opposite sides of the dining table.

Here is the FUN & FABULOUS shaker card Grace created.

Here is a close-up of the mix of Citrus sequins, gold & orange seed beads inside the shaker window.

INGREDIENTS:
5" x 7" card base
Brown textured cardstock - American Crafts
Kaisercraft - 6" Peachy Keen Paper Pad
Sequins - assorted citrus colours
Seed Beads - assorted gold and orange
Black foam sheet
Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Adhesive
Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive

Grace die cut two layers of black foam, aligned the sentiment window and adhered them together using Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Adhesive to create a deep well for the sequins and beads.

Grace is entering her card in the following challenges:

Lea's pretty shaker card with a touch of gold inspired Grace to make her shaker card using the W&W In A Word - Hi Cutaway with some gold seed beads blended with sequins.

Thank You for a wonderful and creative day Grace and Thank You for sharing your card with us.

GEO-Birthday Wishes

I'm always running short on birthday cards,
so it is always nice to have another added to my stash.

What was even more wonderful about this card was having my 13yo niece Grace come to visit with us for a few days and we spent precious creative time together today.  I will share her creation in a separate post so that she can enter some challenges too.

My card is 6 1/4" square.

The patterned paper panel (Kaisercraft - Lavendar Haze Collection - Lilac) was adhered to a square of black foam for dimension then adhered to the black (Kaisercraft Licorice textured cardstock) panel using Helmar 450 Quick Dry.

I stamped "birthday" from the Winnie & Walter - A Tree For All Seasons Stamp Set on a sheet of vellum with black pigment ink then heat embossed with WOW! Clear embossing powder then cut a banner that would fit both the Winnie & Walter In A Word Happy cutaway and the embossed "birthday".  Unfortunately vellum was a little too sheer to mute the busy background and it was difficult to see the sentiment clearly, so I cut another pennant out of Kaisercraft Pistachio textured cardstock.  The happy and Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins were adhered to the vellum with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Adhesive, then I applied tiny dollops of Tombow Mono Multi on the underside of the vellum under the "happy" and sequins to secure it to the Pistachio cardstock.

The sentiment banner looked too flat when I first adhered it to the card front, so I quickly pulled it away (YAY, the Helmar 450 Quick Dry was still liquid) then I cut a smaller white foam pennant to add some extra dimension.

I adhered some more PPP Sparkling Clear sequins to the patterned paper panel too.

Ingredients:
Kaisercraft 12x12 patterned paper - Lavendar Haze Collection - Lilac
Kaisercraft Textured Cardstock - Pistachio
Kaisercraft Textured Cardstock - Licorice
Fundamentals - Plain Vellum
Winnie & Walter - In A Word - HAPPY cutaway
WOW! - Clear Embossing Powder
Pretty Pink Posh - Sparkling Clear Sequins - 4mm, 6mm and 8mm

I had several challenges in mind while I was creating this card and I'm going to enter it in the following challenges.

Here is the magazine cover to INSPIRE and there is an added TWIST this week, the project must include at least one stamp.
Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays - Week 138 Inspiration Piece (image)
I was inspired by the colours and patterns of the background against the POP of black.
How lucky was I to have THE PERFECT PAPER in my stash?!?!?
I combined a stamp with my diecut for the sentiment.
The added bonus is that I have this movie ready and waiting to watch again :)

I was inspired by the geometric design of the fabulous facets in the background of Lydia's lovely layout from Day-3.
I was inspired by the soft colours, stamped vellum panel and mix of die cut & stamped sentiments of Gayatri's "home sweet home" card from Day-4
I was inspired by the geometric patterns, soft colours and combination of die cut & stamped sentiment of Kate's card from Day-5

PS - I confess that I cut the "wishes" from the W&W "birthday wishes" stamp.  It sure made it a lot easier to stamp without masking and they fit back together perfectly for when I want to stamp them together again.
