CAS birthday

It's no secret that I struggle with CAS cards but I'm working on it.

No patterned paper or stamps here today, I used Washi Tape to create the patterned panel angled across the base.

I think this is the first time I have actually created something with Washi Tape ... I usually use it to hold my dies in place for when they go through my Sizzix Big Shot.  Definitely going to start using them for their intended purpose now!

Ingredients:
Washi Tape
Sequins
Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Adhesive

There are lots of fabulous projects shared each day this week and we have been challenged to create a new project inspired in some way by them.
I was inspired by the colours and CAS design of Heather's hello card from Day 5, the angle of the Washi Tape & sentiment and the sparkle of the sequins is really elegant and pretty.

NO, you are not going crazy!!!
... you saw an almost identical card to this card HERE.
When I cut the gazillion leaves in gold glitter paper and black cardstock to make it, I used the gold "outer" and inlaid the black "inner".  It seemed a shame to have all the black "outers" and gold "inners" go to waste, especially as one of my crafty goals is to make multiple cards whenever possible.  Once again, I struggled to lay them out in a random design.  I reversed the matted layers too.

Here is a close-up of the leafy panel before the vellum sentiment panel was adhered in place.

Ingredients:
American Crafts - Gold Glitter Paper
American Crafts - Textured Cardstock

I was inspired by:
- the leafy background & vellum layer of Shay's card from Day 1
- the leafy background of Lydia's card from Day 3
... the Winnie & Walter Cover Model - The Leaf Effect Cutaway
is on my wishlist, I'm sure you can see why :)

Sparkling birthday wishes

My original plan was to include a rose and some leaves on top of the vellum panel with the sentiment but when it came to adhering everything in place it looked too fussy and luckily there just wasn't enough room for them all, even though I had made the base slightly larger than normal (5 1/2" x 7 1/2") .

The golden sparkle really pops with the black inlay of the leaves.
To keep this card nice and flat for mailing, I adhered the vellum layer with tiny dots of adhesive behind the sentiments.

Here is a photo showing just the leafy panel ... it was a struggle to cover any of it.  You would NOT believe the challenge I had with the random placement of the leaves, I usually have a tight grip on my ruler!!!  It took me longer to place them than it did to die cut them all.

PINK Christmas wishes

It's never too early to get started on your Christmas cards and I'm hoping to get some made every month or two so that I avoid the usual last minute rush.

The paper has a delicate embossed leafy pattern with a subtle shine and texture.

I will be giving this card to one of our nieces in person, so I went all out with the dimension.  I cut a sheet of foam into tiny squares and adhered them to the back of the wreath layers (not the vellum ones) using Tombow Mono Multi.  The extra dimension allowed plenty of room for the curled leaves.

Don't you just adore the bow?  It only arrived a few days ago and I am already in love with it.  I popped it in place with four squares of pink foam sheet.
I finished it off with a few sparkling sequins.  ... the placement for the ones on the left was chosen for me, as I could see a spot of adhesive shining through the vellum and the sequin covered it perfectly.

Ingredients:
Kaisercraft - Summer Breeze 6 1/2" Paper Pad
Kaisercraft - Weave Cardstock
Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Adhesive
