P is for Pretty Pink Poinsettia with POP

It's that time of year again . . .
we all need to get our Christmas cards sorted and
what better way to do it than playing along with the
at

The prompt for Day 18 is "P"
P is for Pretty Pink Poinsettia
The great news is that Beccy's challenge is not just about cards, it can be any Christmas themed project, so today I'm sharing this pretty pink poinsettia bow.  This bow is to finish off the gift wrapping for a bundle hard cover books.

I created this poinsettia bow with the help of my Cameo.  The poinsettia and bow are separate cut files (details linked below).  I opened the files in Silhouette Studio then enlarged the layered bow to just fit on the cutting mat.  It's HUGE, the largest piece is 11 ¾” wide and is used to make the four bottom loops of the bow.  The section for the second layer of loops is 14 ¼” long and was rotated diagonally to fit on the cutting mat.  The “tail” piece is just over 6” long x 5 ¾” wide.  Instead of using the small top loop of the layered bow, I replaced it with a pretty pink poinsettia.  The poinsettia cut file is already quite big when opened (the largest layer is 6” across), just the right size for upsized layered bow.  I cut all the layers and adhered them together using strong liquid adhesive, giving me time to align the layers before it dried.  I popped foam squares between the layers of the poinsettias for even more dimension.  I added a cluster of orange rhinestones to finish off the middle of the poinsettia flower.

I'm thrilled with how this bow turned out
and just have to share some more pics ...

  1. WOW!!! This is just gorgeous Tracy! It's hard to visualise how big your bow actually is... I had to bring out my ruler to get a feel for the scale. You've done such a great job constructing it all, I LOVE the poinsettia in the middle, it was definitely a great idea to replace the "knot" with the flower. This would make a wonderful decoration for a door or an extra special gift. Fabulous Tracy!
    Cheers,
    Beccy
