Beccy's Place Day 17 - O is for . . .

I'm playing along with the
Tenth Annual
Month of Holiday Cards Challenge

~~~*~~~*~~~
(Beccy's post with "O" inspiration words and
elegant ornaments card to inspire are HERE)
My "O" project is Ornaments.
While making our 2022 Christmas cards, I'm also trying to prepare Christmas craft activities for kids in our neighbourhood too.  Today I'm preparing samples and kits for making paper ornaments, inspired by THIS tutorial I found in cyberland.
It's a quick, easy and fun activity for little and not-so-little hands.
I started by preparing 1" wide strips of heavy double-sided patterned paper.
Each ornament needs five strips, two x 7" + two x 6" + one x 5".
(12"x12" sheets of patterned paper make for waste-free cutting.)
Stack the strips together in this order 7"-6"-5"-6"-7".
... NOT like the picture above, don't know what I was
thinking when I lined the strips up for their photo...
Line the ends up at the top and secure them together.
(The tutorial says to staple but I like to use a little adhesive instead,
a strip of double-sided tape would work too.)
Line up the other ends and secure them together.
(This forms the fancy shape of the ornament.)
Use a punch to punch a small hole to hang the ornament from.
Thread some ribbon / twine through the hole and tie a knot to make a loop.
The double-sided paper looks so pretty from all angles.
*** INGREDIENTS ***
nimble fingers
double-sided patterned paper
liquid adhesive or stapler
(my favourites are Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and Tombow Mono Multi)
tiny circle punches - 1/8" and 1/4" - to make hole for ribbon to hang
ribbon / twine - to hang the ornament
scissors - to cut the ribbon
  1. Love these ornaments Tracy, so effective! Another good way to use up offcuts too, I have quite a lot of thin strips that would be ideal for this activity.
    Cheers,
