Beccy's Place Day 25 - W is for Waratah Flower - 2

I'm playing along with the
Tenth Annual
Month of Holiday Cards Challenge

~~~*~~~*~~~
(Beccy's post with "W" inspiration words and wonderful
watercolour card to inspire are HERE)
My second "W" project is another Wonderful Waratah Flower.
This is my second card using this delightful Aussie native flower, the pre-coloured Waratah Flower image from the Waratah digital stamp set from the Beccy's Place Store and a sentiment from the Emu Parade digital stamp set, also from Beccy's Place Store.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to make and cut fancy scalloped circle top folding card bases.  This time I enlarged the image to fill the front panel more, with part of the stem and bottom leaf cropped off.  I printed then cut and used liquid adhesive to secure the pretty image panel in place.  The easel fold was created by adding a scoreline halfway across the front of the top folding card base and adhering the matted image panel to the bottom half of the scored panel.  The sentiment is from the Emu Parade digital stamp set, so I have combined two Aussie themed sets from the Beccy's Place Store to create my card.  I sized the sentiment to fit into an oval inside the card, cut with my Silhouette Cameo, matted then popped in place with foam squares to make a ledge to hold the front panel up and make the card stand up proudly for display.
I really like how you can transform any shape into a top folding card
and how you can an extra surprise by making it into an easel fold,
flat for mailing and dimension for display.
I don't need to include instructions with this style of card anymore,
our family and friends are well practiced with standing them up.
My first card used the full Waratah Flower image and I enlarged the image to fill the front panel more, with part of the stem and bottom leaf cropped off for the second card ... I think I prefer this one, it seems a little more "balanced" to my crooked eyes.
What do you think?
I confess, I was inspired to use this Waratah Flower image after my husband said how much he liked the easel cards I made earlier using the Protea-1, Protea-2 and Protea-3 images from the Proteas digital stamp set from the Beccy's Place Store.
You can read all about them HERE and HERE.
  1. Two gorgeous cards Tracy! It's always nice to see one of our native flowers on Christmas cards, they're the perfect colour for it. I love the easel style folds... one of my favourites... and the scalloped borders are fabulous.
    Cheers,
    Beccy
