Day 26 - W is for Winter Wonderland . . . take 2

It's time for the 12th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.
You can read the rules HERE or head over to Beccy's Challenges and enter HERE.

Beccy's inspiration is a delightful white-on-white card HERE

My "W" is for Winter Wonderland,
another layered Winter Wonderland shadowbox scene card,
this time without the shadow.

My first attempt at making this card design is HERE.

My layered Winter Wonderland scene card started with a cut file (details & link below).  I enlarged the file from being a 6" x 4" card up to 6 3/4" x 4 1/2", no, it's not my preferred 7" x 5" but this size is a compromise, larger for cutting the delicate elements with the added bonus of fitting two panels on 12"x12" sheets of cardstock.  I gathered one of my last packs of American Crafts Winter Cardstock and selected the colours to layer together (details below, sorry, no links, this cardstock is no longer available) and started cutting.  Now this is when the "shadow" part of the card is supposed to happen.  I struggled adding the foam dots to my first attempt making this cut file design, my fumble fingers just didn't want to play with a gazillion foam dots, single layer foam dots, double layered foam dots and triple, yes triple, layered foam dots.  So I made an executive decision, no more foam dots.  I used liquid adhesive to secure the layers in place, nice and flat.

The different colours of each layer still give a nice dimension to the scene.

I love the dimension ...
... just feeling a bit challenged by getting the layers stuck on my fingers
while trying to remove all the little cover tabs from the foam dots!

Day 30 - Doing what I love . . .

 It's time for the 12th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.
You can read the rules HERE or head over to Beccy's Challenges and enter HERE.

Beccy's inspiration is a set of four STUNNING cards HERE,
she has coloured a single poinsettia image in shades of grey then cut it into four
- WOW - they're breathtakingly beautiful!

My list for "Do What You Love" is endless, because I love making anything
and everything papercraft, from cards to treat boxes and decor pieces.
Today my love is to use an unexpected stamp combination to make a Christmas card.

You may remember seeing this cute Christmas dalmatian
when I shared him for Day 15 - Plaids HERE

~~~*~~~*~~~
My "unexpected stamp combination" Christmas card started with the Paper 5 digital plaid patterned paper from the Daisy Elements digital stamp set, the Dalmatian digital stamp and Too Much Happy digital sentiment from the Dog Tales digital stamp set (sadly now retired and no longer available), both sets from Beccy’s Place
and both are far from what could be called festive.
I opened all the digital elements in Silhouette Studio and sized everything for a 5" x 7" card panel.  I sliced the sentiment into separate words and sized them to fit nicely beside the sweet dalmatian.  I added a merry little Santa hat to the dalmatian.  I printed the card panel as a single layer and trimmed down to size.  The dalmatian image panel was coloured with Copic markers AND this time I remembered the eyes.  After a bit of searching in cyberland I learned that dalmatians usually have brown or blue eyes.  Well blue eyes were OUT ... growing up there was a scary dog with one brown eye and one blue eye on my Aunt & Uncle's farm, since then I have avoided blue-eyed dogs, so brown it is.  I made a 5" x 7" card base then adhered the card panel on top to finish my "you can never have too much happy" Christmas card.
Lots of markers to colour this little cutie.
He really is a Christmas cutie!
He's ready for a Happy Family Christmas!
He's so happy, if you blink you can almost see his tail wagging!
Here are my cards together, my original Christmas Plaid Dalmatian
and today's unexpected "too much happy" Christmas Dalmatian.
Day 26 - W is for White-on-White
It's time for the 12th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.
You can read the rules HERE or head over to Beccy's Challenges and enter HERE.
Beccy's inspiration is a delightful white-on-white card HERE
My "W" is for White-on-White too,
lots of white layers, lots of white dimension.
Inspired by the white-on-white card Beccy shared as inspiration for “Day 26 - W”, I decided to try a new-to-me Christmas card cut file and make it all white-on-white too.
I opened the Merry Little Christmas Card cut file (details & links below, available from two stores) in Silhouette Studio and enlarged the card.  One of my favourite sizes is 5” x 7” and this card was A2, which is a much smaller 5 ½” x 4 ¼”.  The best I could do was to lock the aspect of the grouped elements of the card and enlarge it to be 6 ¾” wide x 5” tall, almost 5" x 7" and it will fit nicely in a 5” x 7” envelope.  I changed the sentiment for this card and used one of my favourites from Beccy’s Place, the Merry Little Christmas digital sentiment from the Christmas Blooms digital stamp set.  I printed the sentiment panels then cut all the pieces from white textured cardstock.  I used a paint brush handle to curl the poinsettia petals and leaves, along with the delicate leaf strips.  I used assorted liquid adhesives to assembled the layers.  I used 300gsm smooth white cardstock to make card bases then adhered the assembled layers on top.  I finished off the cards with some sparkling rhinestones.
Day 25 - V is for Violet
It's time for the 12th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.
You can read the rules HERE or head over to Beccy's Challenges and enter HERE.
with a bold and beautiful black background HERE
My "V" is for Violet,
Velvet smooth Violet glitter cardstock and violet shades
of my Polar Bear Stand Up Cards
This is my third "Stand Up" style card.  I shared
a pair of Stand Up Snowman cards HERE and a pair of Stand Up Reindeer cards HERE
These cute Stand Up Polar Bear cards started as a cut file in Silhouette Studio.
The Polar Bear is one cut file from the free Stand Up Christmas Cards cut file set from Kristi at SVGnation.  I kept the file at the original size as the polar bears are quite large, 4.915" wide x 6.313" tall (sorry my head is still not in decimal converting mode).  I printed then cut the sentiment-stand up panels, then cut all the other pieces.  I adhered the layers together with assorted liquid adhesives as each had a attributes that suited the different pieces best.
One is for smaller areas & gives wriggle room before drying, one is perfect for larger areas, has wriggle room & does not warp the cardstock, the last one is also great for small areas, has a strong bond, with the bonus of adding a "stiffness-hardness" to what is adhered.  The last one has been dispensed into a little fine tip bottle so I can use it for small pieces or areas like joining tabs.  It's not an "everything adhesive" as it tends to buckle cardstock when used over larger areas.  Sorry, I digress, I just wanted to explain why I used three adhesives on the one project.
The violet glitter looks so pretty framing each polar bear,
the glitter cardstock is luxurious like velvet to touch.
The polar bears stand up quite tall and could even be used as a decor piece.
... and they fold flat for mailing, win-win!
Day 22 - T is for Trees
 It's time for the 12th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.
You can read the rules HERE or head over to Beccy's Challenges and enter HERE.
Beccy's inspiration is a TUTORIAL HERE
It's a colouring tutorial for a stunning snowman scene card - WOW!
My "T" is for Trees,
Christmas Trees.
These cute Tree cards started as a 5x7 Insert Card Christmas Tree cut file in Silhouette Studio.  They were already formatted to one of my favourite card sizes, 5" x 7".  I cut the front panels and insert panels from textured cardstock and inserted them together to make two card fronts.  I made 5" x 7" card bases from 300gsm smooth white cardstock and adhered the layered panels to the front.  This design was a really neat cut, easy to weed and with no jagged edges.  It was also quick and easy to make, so it was a nice change from my recent times inking and curling, inking and curling.
