Day 13 - L is for Lovely Lattice Folds

It's time for the 12th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.
You can read the rules HERE or head over to Beccy's Challenges and enter HERE.

Beccy's inspiration is a lovely lilac and lavender card HERE.

My L is for Lattice folds, Lovely Lattice folds.

I remember when I first started "serious" cardmaking, I was intrigued by Lattice Fold cards, the  repeated cuts and folds looked so delicate.  I tried my hand at making them but my craft knife cuts with a ruler were not as appealing as what I was seeing others make, so it was a style that went into the too hard basket.  Time rolls by and now we have amazing cutting machines that can cut delicate designs and I found a cut file that was a festive delight.  NOW I am officially a "Lattice Folder".

No surprise here, my cards started with a cut file in Silhouette Studio.  The design was for a larger format cut which I adjusted down to 3 3/4" wide x 8 1/2" tall.  My red cardstock supply is almost empty, so I created a red base panel to adhere to a white (made-by-me) cardstock base instead.  This would make these tall cards sturdier, so it's a win-win.  After all the pieces were cut, I started folding the lattice folds gently by hand then I burnished with a bone folder to make a crisp fold.
To assemble the card, I adhered the red panel to the card front the adhered the green matting layer.  To adhere the lattice fold panel, I ran a thin line of adhesive (Tombow) along the flat lattice strips and applied adhesive (Helmar) to the rest of the panel, aligned then pressed in place on each card.  Each card was finished off with a little red star at the top of the tree.

  1. Oh my, these are gorgeous! I love the texture you've achieved with all those delicate folds Tracy, your trees are fabulous. I like the little red star you added to the tops too.
I've never tried lattice folding... I've seen it come and go many times over the years, but just never got to it. Perhaps I should add it to my to do list.
    Cheers,
