Day 3 - C is for Cheery Christmas Cardinals

Day 3 - C

Beccy's inspiration is a set of Candy Cane cards HERE  

My C is for Cardinals,

a trio of Cheery Christmas Cardinals.

No, you're not seeing things, I made a cardinal card HERE,

my new card has a Crimson sentiment and falling snow accents.

Using Silhouette Studio, I opened the cut file for the cardinal card (full details below).  I soon realised what the #10 meant, it was #10 size, which is 4" wide x 9 1/4" high, just a little too big.  I adjusted the card to be 3 1/2" wide, the standard slimline size.  With the scaling, it meant the card was a bit shorter than slimline at 8 1/4" high, which works well for me, as I have bundles of slimline envelopes ready and waiting to be filled.  Instead of cutting the card base with the cut detail on the front as one piece, I converted it to be a cut card front.  I made a shorter slimline card base from 300gsm smooth cardstock, making the card much sturdier than it would have been if cut from textured cardstock.  I cut the tree panel, cardinals and matting layer from textured cardstock and layered on to the card base.  Using the same red cardstock, I cut a sentiment strip to adhere across the bottom of the card.  The card was finished off with random white gel pen snow flurries.
