Day 5 - E is for Envelope . . . Envelope Box Card

It's time for the 12th Annual Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.
You can read the rules HERE or head over to Beccy's Challenges and enter HERE.

Beccy's inspiration is a tasty eggnog card HERE

My E is for Envelope, an Envelope Box Card.

This is my first ever envelope box card and WOW, all I can say is how wonderful it is to have an electronic cutting machine and digital cut files.  I opened the cut file in Silhouette Studio, sorted the pieces by colour, set up each colour to cut together and cut all the pieces from textured cardstock.  Next came the video tutorial on how to assemble, lots of petal curling and lots of glueing.  It took longer to choose my cardstock and find my spare bottle of glue than it did to assemble the card.

This style of card is designed to fold flat for mailing, usually in a chunkier envelope.
I pushed the side down to flatten my card, as you can see the bottom of the card is flat BUT I got a little overzealous with my petal curling and gave my poinsettias a little too much dimension.  This card is going to have to be boxed up for mailing or inserted into an oversized envelope and hand delivered.  This doesn't bother me though, as I LOVE it and look forward to sharing Christmas Cheer.

This card is so cheery, I think I will have to make some more,
maybe add some inking and bling to the poinsettias.

PS: My card doesn't have any of Beccy's digital stamps {{{yet}}}.
I'm thinking that I should make a sentiment panel for the back of the card.  All I need to do is add a Beccy's digital sentiment, print , cut then adhere the  panel to the back, ready for me to write on, making writing in our Christmas cards much easier.

  1. Awesome card Tracy, I LOVE the fold! It looks fantastic standing open for display and there are so many possibilities for decorating. Your poinsettias are gorgeous, I love the dimension you added by curling the petals... definitely worth the extra height.
    Cheers,
